The Interim Pastor Search Committee has conducted interviews with multiple Interim Pastor candidates. This past week, we had a second interview, this one face-to-face, with the candidate who has emerged as the leading candi-date, with strong consensus within our group. This candidate is currently serving as an Interim Pastor at another church. The Pastor Nominating Committee at that church has given positive signals that a call could soon be ex-tended for their Installed Pastor position. Being a person of honor, our candidate will not leave that Interim Pastor position until that call has, in fact, been extended and accepted. We appreciate this integrity and are confident that we would be shown the same courtesy. As a group, we were extremely impressed with this person’s interim pastor training, communica-tion skills and genuineness. While operating with a sense of urgency, we were collectively impressed enough by this individual to allow a bit of time for the situation at the candidate’s current church to reach the necessary stage of completion. We ask you to continue to pray for guidance and discernment for our Committee, for the person God has in mind to be our Interim Pastor and for our congregation as we navigate through this time of transition. Karen Wiederaenders & Steve Guthrie for the Interim Pastor Search Committee

youth@wppc will meet on August 14 and 28 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Lochmann home . Get ready to splash around in the pool, have dinner,

extra pool time please feel free to come at 5:30. Questions? Call Candis at 816-213-6750.

Strangled by Love Vine Preschool News

The Cornerstone Bible Study Group continues the study of "THE STORY", a study of GOD and HIS people from Genesis thru Revelation. We have re-cently reviewed the chapter about the resurrection of Jesus and will be restarting our study in Chapter 28, "New Beginnings". Our next meeting will be on September 11th, in the Holy Grounds Room at 9:25am. We continue to have a faithful group of 10-12 members of our group who are actively involved in a deeper understanding of Gods upper story and the lower story that plays out in each of our daily lives. All are welcome to join us when we resume our study in September. If you have any questions please contact Mike Montgomery or Karen Wiederaenders.

Yes, our bushes are slowly being strangled by the insidious Love Vine. Weeds plus the occasional tree are devouring the rose bushes. Our sidewalks are steadily being cracked to death by an invasion of crab grass. We need your help. Who will step up to help keep our grounds in shape by volunteering two hours per week to clip Love vine -- and put a week killer on the vine -- pull crab grass from the sidewalk cracks, and keep the flower beds weed-free? A team of two working every week would help spruce up our grounds and make them more welcoming for members and visitors. Plus it's good for you -- according to Web MD "Gardening: pulling weeds, planting flowers, etc. burns 200-400 calories per hour. " Work two hours at a good rate and you will burn up enough calories for a slice of original cheese cake from the Cheese Cake Factory (710 calories perslice). (Steve Guthrie will buy the cheesecake if you pull the weeds.) Steve Guthrie is waiting for your response. . .

Choir Rehearsal Resumes Wednesday, August 31

We had a wonderful 7 weeks of summer camp during June and July! Children had fun with themes such as, Animal Planet, Construction, A Bug's Life, Party in the USA, Artful Antics, Fiesta, and Under the Sea. We had a great group of staff leading the fun, as well as a wonderful group of children attending. The children especially enjoyed sprinkler days every Wednesday! During the month of August, teachers attend workshops, and the building is prepped for the beginning of school on August 23. The preschool has hired a new staff member, Anna Fleming, to work along-side Debbie Beck in the 4-day Pre-K, upstairs in the Blue Room. Anna's child attended Ward Parkway Preschool several years ago, so we love that she is familiar with our school. She also taught 3rd grade at Visitation Catholic School for 7 years, so she knows many of our Ward Parkway families. Please help us welcome her to our staff! We are excited to begin our 50th year, and love the history that is woven into this school. We pray that our children and families this year, will feel the love that is ever so present in this church and school. Here's to a great year!
