to their seventh Women’s College World Series Appearance in program history.¢ UT was picked to finish fifth in the SEC
Preseason Coaches’ Poll and Rainey Gaffin was named to the Preseason All-SEC Team.¢ Senior Rainey Gaffin was named to the USA
Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 50 “Watch List”¢ Tennessee returns nine players from last

season with a career record of 934-314-2, just 16 wins shy of 950 for her career.
WEEK 1 NOTES (KAJIKAWA CLASSIC)¢ The Vols went 4-2 with two wins over teams
that made the 2015 NCAA Tournament (BYU & Northwestern).¢ Erin Gabriel went 2-1 and posted 10-plus
strikeout in all three of her starts, totaling 34 for the week. She threw a complete-game shutout with 13 Ks in the Vols season-opening 5-0 victory over Creighton.¢ Gabriel also become the first Tennessee
pitcher to strike out 10-plus batter in three straight appearances since Ellen Renfroe accomplished the feat in 2014.¢ Freshmen Aubrey Leach and Brooke Vines
both batted over .430 and combined for 20 hits, nine runs, 10 RBIs and seven steals. In UT’s 15-3
win over BYU, Leach went 3-for-5 with two runs and four RBIs while Vines went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.¢ UT had four players bat over .400 and four
players drive in at least five runs.¢ The Vols averaged 7.3 runs per game and
9.3 runs per game in their four wins.
WEEK 2 NOTES (MICHELE SMITH INVITATIONAL)¢ The Vols went 4-1 with run-rule victories
over Oklahoma State, Fordham and DePaul.¢ Tennessee improved its all-time record in
Clearwater, Fla., to 21-2.¢ UT averaged 9.2 runs per game in its five
contests and scored 10 or more three times.¢ Shaliyah Geathers had a monster week,
batting .471 with six runs, five doubles and 10 RBIs. She set a new career high in RBIs twice, first with four against Oklahoma State and again with five against DePaul.¢ The Vols hit a season-high three homers in a
16-4 win over DePaul on Sunday.¢ Megan Geer hit a pair of home runs on the
week to increase her team-leading total to three.¢ Rainey Gaffin hit her first two home runs of
the year and also recorded her first two saves of the season.¢ Erin Gabriel posted a perfect 3-0 record for
the week.
WEEK 3 NOTES (EASTON BAMA BASH)¢ The Vols went 2-2 with two wins over
Marshall and a pair of 1-run losses to No. 15 Arizona & No. 4 Alabama.¢ Matty Moss, Meghan Gregg & Megan Geer
were all named to the all-tournament team.¢ Moss threw a complete-game one-hitter
in an 18-0 win over Marshall & followed that with 5.2 scorless innings of relief against No. 4 Alabama before giving up three late runs. Moss leads the team with a 1.58 ERA.¢ Meghan Gregg batted .538 with four runs,
four doubles, two home runs, 10 RBIs and a 1.308 slugging percentage. The sophomore posted a new career high with seven RBIs in the Vols’ 18-0 win over Marshall On Feb. 27.¢ Megan Geer also had a strong weekend,
posting six hits, four runs, three extra-base hits and seven RBIs. Geer went 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs in Tennessee’s 18-0 win over Marshall on Feb. 27.¢ Geer leads the team with 18 runs and 18 RBIs
and has reached base in 15 straight games.¢ UT nearly knocked off No. 4 Alabama,
coming back from a 3-run deficit to take a 5-3 lead before giving up three runs with two outs in the seventh inning.
WHO’S HOT?Meghan Gregg (So. - SS)¢ In the last five games Gregg leads the
Vols with seven hits, four runs, four doubles, two home runs, 10 RBIs and a 1.063 slugging percentage.¢ Gregg went 3-for-4 with two runs and a
