Methods for Checking for Plagiarism
Make sure everything you create and produce is original and authentically made by you or used with permission!
If you are specifically instructed to use and cite online sources or to quote texts, cite and quote sources correctly!
Many teachers use online resources like Turnitin.com to check student work for plagiarism automatically (Turnitin will actually give a ‘percent authentic’ rating to student work, so, rest assured, even a little plagiarism will show up. Be warned!)
The following anti-plagiarism methods are available for review at MIT’s website http://cmsw.mit.edu/writing-and-communication-center/resources/teachers/detect-plagiarism/
The following sites offer tools and techniques for detecting plagiarism.• Plagiarism and Anti-Plagiarism (Source: Rutgers University)• Plagiarism.org (A service that requires payment but which gives a free trial)• SafeAssign• Glatt Plagiarism Services• EVEKnow the "Enemy“ - Here are some websites that offer papers to students, either for free or for
money. New sites appear weekly, so the following is a mere sampling. Seeing what these sites offer, however, can help teachers know what to look for and can help us develop strategies for making such plagiarism extremely difficult.
