• It has given rise to user-generated content, also known as Web 2.0

• Social Media is the #1 activity on the web

• Mobile devices such as smart phones have intensified access to web and social media

• Today’s college and grad students are in the Gen Y demographic (born in 1980s and early 1990s), also known as the Net Generation
