Changes To RAISEonline 2015

Key Stage 4 reports affected by Key Stage 2 2010 boycott

• Prior attainment is calculated based on the Key Stage 2 national curriculum tests. Where a test result is not available, the teacher assessment is used instead. In 2010, a number of schools boycotted the Key Stage 2 national curriculum tests and therefore, this year, the number of pupils without a test result is higher than usual. For Year 11 only, a new field will be shown in the PriorKS3_4 report which will indicate the percentage of those pupils who were either absent, below the level of the test or without a test result (including boycott).

Changes To RAISEonline 2015Key Stage 4 Progress 8 and Attainment 8 measures• The Department for Education offered secondary schools the opportunity to opt into

the new accountability system, based upon Progress 8 and Attainment 8 (P8A8) measures one year early in 2015.

• All schools, including schools that have not opted in, will have access to new P8A8 analyses in the interactive system. Schools that have opted into these new measures a year early in 2015 will also see these in their summary report. Ofsted inspectors will only have access to P8A8 analyses for secondary schools that have opted into the new measures a year early.

• The new reporting will provide overall school analyses for Progress 8 and Attainment 8. In addition, there will be analyses of the English, mathematics, EBacc and other elements. Schools will be able to drill down to see individual pupil performance which can then be analysed.

• As part of the pupil group analyses, six new groups will be added to the prior attainment section (English low, English middle, English high, mathematics low, mathematics middle, mathematics high). Diocese of Shrewsbury

Changes To RAISEonline 2015• Some reports will have national comparators changed for inclusion in

the summary report. The national comparator displayed will be either for the same group, for ‘all’ pupils or for the ‘non’ group. The Attainment 8 comparator for disadvantaged pupils will be the national for non disadvantaged pupils, consistent with the existing closing the gap trend report. FSM will be compared with non FSM pupils nationally, and CLA pupils will be compared with non CLA. The all pupils comparator will be used for ethnicity and first language as well as SEN. All other groups will be compared with the same group nationally. The Progress 8 figures will be compared to all pupils nationally throughout.

• The interactive system will contain Attainment 8 and Progress 8 reports in which the national ‘same’ pupil group is used throughout.Diocese of Shrewsbury

Changes To RAISEonline 2015Key Stage 4 destinations data• The report displaying destinations of pupils that completed Key Stage 4 in 2011, which

was originally published with 2014 unvalidated Key Stage 4 data, will be available again in the interactive system by selecting the 2013 validated data in the drop-down menu.

All key stages Special Educational Needs (SEN)• On 1 September 2014 a range of SEND reforms were introduced as part of the

Children and Families Act. Following the changes to SEN school census codes, RAISEonline will adopt the following categories:

• no SEN• SEN support (which replaces School Action and School Action Plus)• SEN with statement or EHC plan. All key stages exclusion data

• For 2015, a new category will be added to the existing RAISEonline exclusion reports to show the percentage of pupils with more than one fixed-term exclusion.

Changes To RAISEonline 2015

Inspection dashboardOfsted is developing a new inspection dashboard which will be available through RAISEonline for all schools from September 2015. Further information about this report has been provided in a separate communication and is available on RAISEonline latest news.

Key Stage 5 dataIn the autumn term, Key Stage 5 reports will be made available to schools with Key Stage 5 pupils as a pdf report held in RAISEonline

Using School Performance Data• No single source of data or analysis can provide a comprehensive

overview of school performance• It’s not the source that matters (as long as it’s accurate), it’s the question

you ask of the data• New Ofsted framework places a greater emphasis on data for all year

groups and for groups of pupils

When several sources say the same thing, it’s a basis for action

When several sources give conflicting messages, it’s a cause for investigation
