But why doesn’t it it shine in the US ?

1) Lack of market share

2) Unfamiliarity

3) Technical gaps

EubuntuIt is one of many linux programs that is mostly and almost always used for education.

Goals of Edubuntu

Their aim is to put together a system that contains all the best free software available in education and make it easy to install and maintain

Page 9: using linux in schools

Why do we use linux in schools

I think we should use linux in schools because it is cheaper and much more secure, and because normal computers need anti viruses to fight viruses that come approximately 30000 daily. And linux does need any antiviruses because it fights anti viruses itself and contains no viruses .

Server distribution.Primary Domain controller

capability

The TLSP system is a scalable single or multi server system, comprising many features.

Page 11: using linux in schools

Server Distribution.KiXtart

TLSP uses KiXtart scripts to set up Windows XP clients on the domain, providing mandatory profiles to most users on the system.

Page 12: using linux in schools

Server Distribution.Servers

TLSP includes the Moodle e-learning package, and several website content management systems, including Joomla! and Website Baker.

Page 13: using linux in schools

Server distributionWPKG

Particularly interesting is the inclusion of WPKG, which enables the remote installation of software on Windows clients. By using a machine profile stored on the server, it is possible to install software packages, hotfixes, and security updates in the background.

Client Distribution

The first version of Karoshi Client was based on PCLinuxOS. Further upgrades to the system as a whole led to the client using a modified version of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with a GUI similar to the Microsoft Windows interface.

Page 15: using linux in schools

Client distribution.Technical

Karoshi Client contains many applications which were deemed necessary for school work. Media production software are included, along with programming tools and visualization software.

Page 16: using linux in schools

limitations

It is difficult to integrate TLSP into an existing Windows network, without changing the address space to the standard one that is used by the TLSP system.

Page 17: using linux in schools

Future plans Kerberos support is planned for the Karoshi server and client system, providing single sign on to all services provided by the Karoshi distribution. This will be unfeasible until Samba 4 is released due to the complexities surrounding integration of user resolution and file access across multiple operating systems, such as those that do not support the Active Directory protocols

Conclusion

In conclusion I think that they should be used in schools not only in the UAE but worldwide and we should get rid of all others that we use because they contain viruses and cost a lot of money and because the linux school projects offers a lot more features than all other softwares
