Identifying policy and management questions

• The goal of developing a HRIS is to have current, reliable information to answer questions about the health workforce.

• Human resources policy and management questions are, very simply, those questions about the health workforce that you need to answer.

• Questions could come from regular reports you need to complete, e.g. HSSP, quarterly reports, or sporadic requests from the Ministers, PS, Directors, etc.

Policy and Management Questions

• Think of questions that are often asked but cannot be answered because the needed information is not available, current, or complete.

• Starting with the questions that are most pressing ensures that iHRIS truly meets the need, without capturing unnecessary information.

• Identify those policy, training, and management questions most pertinent to the group.
