Adding new types of process bus devices requires not only modificationof the respective database tables but also of the base software. The set ofsupported process bus devices therefore depends on the base softwarerelease.
 '+

Because only 4 bits of the slot id are decoded, slot 20 can not be used for aStar coupler module (SCM). Slot 20 is causing a conflict with slot 4.
 !+ Group events are implemented however there are still implementationerrors, why group events are not supported.

To guarantee a safe operation of the terminal, it must be restarted (viapower off/on or reset) after the tools DDT or Multiprog wt have been usedwith an on-line connection. This is only required for devices which run ina customer’s site. Such restarts are not necessary in test environments.
 '+#+++-
The status information of the power supplies is available on the VME buslines IRQ3 and IRQ4. In the extension rack there is no module that canmonitor these lines. Therefore the power supplies cannot be directlysupervised in the extension rack. The PSM03 however provides its statusinformation on an output at the front. By connecting this output to abinary input, the status will be accessible.
$ 9.: Signals coming from the LON interbay bus must only be used once in afunction block program application
& ++
The main CPU can only accept approx. 3 analog events/sec from the pro-cess bus (VME and MVB!). Producing more events on the I/O modulesover a longer period of time will result in a loss of events as soon as thebuffers on the I/O modules overflow.
(
When four event sessions are closed during a timeout condition, the re-establishing of those four event sessions takes longer than normal(approximately 3 minutes longer). This behavior is only observed duringvery high bus load.
 5
Heavy disturbance (that is, TX/RX shortcut) on the MVB Bus causes abus administrator restart.

!The operation of a measuring function is influenced by distortion, andmeasures need to be taken in the terminal to handle this phenomenon. Onesource of distortion is current transformer saturation. In this terminal,measures are taken to allow for a certain amount of CT saturation withmaintained correct operation. This terminal can allow relatively heavycurrent transformer saturation.
 "#Use magnetic or capacitive voltage transformers. Capacitive voltagetransformers (CTVs) should fulfil transient requirements according toIEC 186A, section 20.
According to the standard the secondary voltage should drop to less than10% of the peak prefault value before the short circuit within one cycle ata primary voltage drop down to zero.
$ %#
$ %# Use current transformers of type TPX or TPY with an accuracy class of5P or better. The characteristic of the linearised current transformer typeTPZ is not well defined as far as the phase angle error is concerned. Con-tact ABB AB to confirm that the type in question can be used.
Select the current transformer ratio so that the current magnitude is higherthan the minimum operating value for all detectable faults. The minimumoperating current is not lower than 5% of the nominal current.

& 9.: Connect the optical fiber LON communication link when the terminalshould be used in a substation control system, SCS. Normally the commu-nication link is connected to a LON star coupler. Use only glass fibers.
Use the SIGTOOL signal engineering tool or the LON network tool toconfigure the LON nodes in a substation control system.

& 7"5+ Connect the optical fiber MVB communication link when the terminalshould be used together with serial process data interfaces, PISA. Nor-mally the communication link is connected to a MVB star coupler. Useonly glass fibers.
Use the instructions in the PISA user’s guide and the CAP 580 User’sguide to configure the process bus.

A suitable front connection cable for PC can be purchased from ABB. Seethe REC 580 technical overview broschure for ordering details.
Minimum requirements for engineering using CAP 580 including Mwtand DDT:
• CPU Intel Pentium 160 MHz.
• S-VGA monitor.
• 96 MB RAM, 128 MB recommended.
• At least 100 MB hard disc space available.
• Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (English), Service Pack 3.
• Object Store (database system) V5.1.
• Microsoft Excel and Accesss, service release 1.
