USE OF GENRE
USE OF GENRE
LOCATION• The location of our video is typical of a pop music video. Plain and
coloured backgrounds are commonly used.• We chose to use the coloured backgrounds to make it easier for the
audience to focus on the actors.• Our location is also typical to a boyband music video due to the
simplicity.
COSTUME AND PROPS• Our costume choice is highly inspired by boyband music videos –
generally all boybands wear matching costumes.• We give each member individuality through their hair style, height and
facial hair.• By using instruments in our video we break the boundary of the pop
and boyband genres and incorporate an element of rock or indie music.
• The balloons in our video give the video location more depth and makes the audience think of a party atmosphere.
VIDEO EDITING• When editing our video we created a pop and upbeat feel by using
fast cuts. • We chose not to use any transitions such as wiping or fading as
these did not work with the beat of the music.• Using After Effects we added animated lyrics over the video – this
was to connect the visuals with the audio.
WEBSITE PRODUCTION• Using a lot of images we were able to create a typical pop band
website.• We also carried the theme of bold font.• By having the same image as the header of every page it made it
easy for the audience to identify the website as a boyband site.
DIGIPAK PRODUCTION• We used an already existing pop digipak as inspiration for our digipak.• The back panel image uses an iconic boyband pose therefore making
it easily identifiable.• The three inside panels is a reference to indie or rock music, yet the
way we have tinted the photos to be bright colours show how we have incorporated pop.
