ABSTRACT

This report is the twenty-seventh quarterly bulletin of seismicity

thein United for thenortheastern States period April-June 1982

Included are geographic maps of the network stations and seismicity

during the quarter, and of the cumulative seismicity for the twenty

Also included tables ofquarters. station locationsseven are

INTRODUCTION

Station operations and seismicity results for the quarter

are summarized in three figures and five tables (the formats of

the tables are described in the section EXPLANATION OF TABLES).

Figure 1 is a geographic map of ~EUSSN stations which were

operational during the reporting period; Figures 2 and 3 are

maps of seismicity for the reporting period and for the cumula-

tive period from October 1975. respectively, in which those

earthquakes that were felt are shown by red symbols.

Table 1 is a location list of operating stations; Table 2

is a chronological list of epicenters during the reporting

period; Table 3 lists station arrival times, distances,

azimuths, amplitudes, and periods for the events of Table 2;

Table lists4 foreshocks, aftershocks, and microearthquakes

occurring during the reporting period

SEISMICITY

During the period April-June 1982, total of 21a

detected and located in theearthquakes were northeastern

United States. In addition, 18 earthquakes are included which

had epicenters in Canada, 12 of these events were within 100

of the u. s. border.kilometers Table 4 includes 498

aftershocks and microearthquakes.

The magnitudes of the 39 earthquakes in Table 2 range from

1.0 to 4.6. The magnitudes of the events in Table 4 range from

-2.5-3.4
