Holly Bay Campground is located on the west side of Laurel River Lake on London District and offers wooded sites near the lakeshore. The campground has some reservable sites. All other campsites are on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site has a paved vehicle pad, gravel tent pad, fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. The drive-in sites have electricity and water. The walk-in tent sites have access to centrally located water but no electricity. Reservaons can be made between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend at www.recreaon.gov. Holly Bay Campground is operated by a concessionare under an agreement with the U.S. Forest Service. Holly Bay Marina, located near the campground offers rental boats, camping and fishing supplies, fishing licenses. The marina, open year round, has accessible features. The campground does not have a developed swimming area. A public swimming beach is located nearby at the spillway of Laurel River Lake dam. The beach is operated by the U.S.Army Corps of Engineers. Put trash in a bear- resistant trash can or other receptacle provided by the Forest Service. Put food, trash and other odorous items in a bear-resistant container. Store food and trash in a closed motor vehicle with a solid top or a closed hard-body trailer. Consumpon of alcohol and open containers of alcohol are prohibited. No swimming, wading or fishing at boat ramps. Laurel River Lake. The 5,600 acre lake, located in Laurel and Whitley counes was impounded in 1979 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is located near the cies of London and Corbin. Laurel River Lake is a favorite desnaon for thousands of visitors each year. The quiet coves and cliff-lined shores offer relaxaon and quiet reflecon, as well as boang, fishing, skiing and scuba diving in one of the deepest and cleanest lakes in Kentucky. Fishing for black bass, rainbow trout, walleye, crappie, blue gill and caish is excellent. Night fishing for trout is also popular during the summer months. Boang opportunies are provided by seven launch ramps located conveniently around the lake. The quiet bays and backwaters of the lake are excellent locaons for wildlife viewing. The lake has a resident populaon of giant Canadian geese, and is home to wintering bald eagles.
