Member Spotlight - Portraits in the Sand Who would have thought a photography class in high school would turn into a lifelong passion and career? Well, that is exactly what happened to David Koster of Portraits in the Sand. For more than 25 years, Dave has been creating beautiful portraits that have been treasured by countless families. Certified by the Professional Photographers of America, Dave perpetually strives to perfect his craft with continuing education. Residing in Rehoboth Beach, and a member of six chambers of commerce, Dave joined the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber in 2003 to expand his presence south of the Indian River Bridge. According to Dave, there is often a “roadblock between the beaches,” and being an active member of our chamber has certainly grown his business. He also appreciates the educational opportunities the Chamber has to offer. Dave prides himself in the ability to manage family dynamics, children’s napping schedules, weather, lighting and a myriad of other variables to create the perfect keepsake portrait for his clients. Not limited to humans, he is also an expert in photographing our four-legged friends. How about scheduling a “dinner and a portrait” session? Dave collaborates with personal chef Kris Etze to offer a unique “dining and posing” opportunity. Dave offers a 25% discount to BFACC members from October through April, and a 10% discount between May and September. Not limited to the summer season, according to Dave, he is just as comfortable photographing “portraits in the snow” as he is creating Portraits in the Sand. Next time you see Dave at a Chamber event, make sure you smile and say “Chamber!”

Small Business Development Center Reminds Delaware Businesses That Jonas Post-Storm Impact
Assistance Is Available Free of Charge According to CNN’s Money, the effects of Storm Jonas that impacted the Mid-Atlantic Region last week will likely cost businesses and residents $2.5 to $3 billion. In Delaware, coastal and inland flooding, high winds and snow continue to wreak havoc on businesses and homeowners alike. “We know that our small businesses are in the process of assessing their damage, primarily caused by high winds and flooding,” said Bill Pfaff, Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Georgetown. “We want to remind those businesses that we are here and offer free services that could assist them to get back up and running. Whether you’ve been in business two years or twenty, if your business has been impacted by Jonas, we may be able to assist with training such as marketing or writing a business plan, as well as help businesses to get prepared for a loan to cover the cost of construction repairs or equipment replacement.” For more information, visit the website at DelawareSBDC.org or call 302-856-1555.
Bayside Brings Life Enrichment Classes to the PublicBayside Resort Golf Club is thrilled to invite the public to participate in their innovative life enrichment program, Bayside Institute, this winter! Throughout January, February, and March of 2016, the public is welcome to attend classes ranging in topics from nutrition, technology, writing, and more. In June of 2014, Bayside began offering opportunities of life enrichment to the members of their sports club through the program Bayside Institute. This exclusive benefit of membership was launched to further support the Bayside lifestyle and continuously offer members the promised opportunity to “live better, live more.” Through cooking demonstrations and floral arranging to health and wellness to reliving history and exploring new skills, members are able to continue learning and growing at any phase of life. Now, the entire coastal community and beyond is welcome to participate this winter! Classes are posted a month in advance and the full February schedule can be viewed at LiveBayside.com. To learn more about Bayside Institute, register for a class, or become an instructor, visit LiveBayside.com or contact Bayside Institute Coordinator, Jennifer Idzi, at 302-564-7653 or [email protected].
