Urinary System Anatomy
Aorta
• Largest blood vessel; carries blood from heart to all parts of the body
Inferior Vena Cava
• Carries blood back to the heart from the lower body
Renal Artery
• Branches off the aorta; carries blood to the kidneys
Renal Vein
• Carries cleansed blood from the kidneys back to the Inf. Vena Cava
Kidney
• Main organs of the excretory system; filter toxins from the blood, regulate water volume in blood, and blood pressure
Ureter (2)
• Contains urine form the collecting tubules; carries urine to bladder
Urinary Bladder
• Muscular pouch that stores urine until it is ready to be eliminated from body
Urethra
• Tube that connects the bladder to outside of the body
