Upper Mt Gravatt Wishart Parish
Guided by the Holy Spirit, we aim to be an evangelising,
faith-filled parish whose members care for one another and are
welcoming and inclusive.
The Upper Mt Gravatt Wishart Catholic Parish acknowledges the
Jagera and Turrbal people, the Traditional Custodians who have
walked upon and cared for this land for thousands of years.
We acknowledge the continued deep spiritual attachment and
relationship of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to
this Country and commit ourselves to the ongoing journey of
Reconciliation.
Scripture Group
This flexible group meets every Tuesday at 7.00pm in St
Bernard’s Community Centre, responding to the needs of our Readers
across the Parish and also for any interested parishioners who wish
to learn more about our Scriptures. Please bring your “Break Open
the Word” if you have one. If not, they are available for purchase
for $20.
Whoever ignores the Scriptures, ignores Christ - St Jerome.
This weekend the Church in Australia celebrates Word of God
Sunday. This celebration was launched by Pope Francis at the end of
2019 to encourage Catholics to engage more with the Scriptures. The
rest of the world celebrates this day on the Third Sunday in
Ordinary Time. In Australia, this often clashes with Australia Day
or the Australia Day long weekend, so the Australian Catholic
Bishops Conference nominated the first Sunday in February
instead.
Earlier this year, at the mass celebrating Word of God Sunday in
Rome, Pope Francis said “One of the greatest gifts of our time is
the rediscovery of Sacred Scripture in the life of the Church and
the faithful.” He later added, “Never before as
today, has the Bible been so accessible to all and in all
languages, now even in audio visual and digital formats.”
Celebrating today, we remember the centrality of the Word of God
in our liturgy. We hear the Scriptures not just in our readings and
Gospel, but in the prayers of the Church as well.
We also celebrate the Word of God, that is active in other ways
in our parish. In prayer groups, in our meeting
groups, in our Youth group (YAYA), in our Lenten and Advent
discussion groups, in our Life Long Learning groups and workshops,
in our Readings discussion group. Which leads to the challenge of
this Sunday. How do you keep the Word of God active and present in
your life?

Holy Thursday at Home
Upper Mt Gravatt Wishart Parish ENTRANCE PROCESSION: GATHER US
IN
1. Here in this place new light is streaming. Now is the
darkness vanished away. See in this space our fears and our
dreamings. Brought here to you in the light of this day. Gather us
in, the lost and forsaken. Gather us in, the blind and the lame.
Call to us now and we shall awaken. We shall arise at the sound of
our name.
2. We are the young, our lives are a mystery. We are the old who
yearn for your face. We have been sung throughout all of history
Called to be light to the whole human race. Gather us in, the rich
and the haughty. Gather us in, the proud and the strong. Give us a
heart so meek and so lowly. Give us the courage to enter the
song.

APOSTLE’S CREED
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and
earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was
conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered
under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the
dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of
God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the
living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the
communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of
the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
3. Here we will take the wine and the water. Here we will take
the bread of new birth. Here you shall call your sons and your
daughters Call us anew to be salt for the earth. Give us to drink
the wine of compassion.
Give us to eat the bread that is you. Nourish us well and teach
us to fashion Lives that are holy and hearts that are true.

COMMUNION: DRAWN TO YOU
Refrain: Drawn to you, Lord we are drawn to you, To the beauty
of your presence in this place. Here for you, God we are here for
you As the gifts we bring become a feast of grace. We are drawn to
you.
1. Drawn by the love that you have poured on us We bring these
gifts work of our hands, You gather all we offer to yourself,
Receive our prayer. Refrain
2. Drawn by the faith that you accept our gifts, And sanctify
what we have shared. To make us holy by this bread and wine,
Receive our prayer. Refrain
3. Drawn by the table you have laid for us, the welcome feast
your heart prepares, the words now spoken that will make us one,
Receive our prayer. Refrain

SONG OF PRAISE: THE SERVANT SONG
1. Will you let me be your servant? Let me be as Christ to you.
Pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant, too.
2. We are pilgrims on a journey, we are trav’lers on the road.
We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load.
3. I will hold the Christ-light for you In the night-time of
your fear. I will hold my hand out to you, Speak the peace you long
to hear.
4. I will weep when you are weeping. When you laugh I’ll laugh
with you. I will share your joy and sorrow ‘til we’ve seen this
journey through. Richard Gillard © Scripture in Song RECESSIONAL:
STRONG AND CONSTANT
1. I will be Your God who walks with you! You will be always
within my hand! Take your heart and give it all to me! Strong and
constant is my love! Strong and constant is my love!
2. Should you wander far away from me I will search for you in
every land! Should you call, then you will truly know: Strong and
constant is my love! Strong and constant is my love!
3. When you know sorrow within your life, I will come I will
embrace your heart! Through your pain you will discover me! Strong
and constant is my love! Strong and constant is my love! © Frank
