Quotation marks
• Double quote marks for direct quotes, titles of articles, verbatim quotes
• Use italics for technical terms or linguistic examples
• Use single marks for quotes within a quote
Quoted Material
• 40 words or more should be a block quote with no quotation marks, indented and double spaced. Place citation after punctuation
• Less than 40 words use double quote marks. Place citation after closing quotation mark but
before punctuation
• Must include page number for direct quotes
• Midsentence: Place after closing quote mark and continue sentence.
• End of sentence: After closing quote mark, before punctuation
• End of Block Quote: After final punctuation
• Use ampersand (&) instead of and between authors’ names
• Comma between author and publication year
TABLES
• Tables are numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned
• Refer to tables by number, not as “the table above” or “the following table”• Table Titles should be placed on top of tables• Number tables with Arabic numerals• Double-space• Use horizontal rather than vertical lines within tables• Capitalize the initial letter of the principled words
and italicize the title
FIGURES
• Figures are numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned

Punctuation• Periods and commas should be placed within the quote
marks; semicolons and colons go outside

below the actual Figure. Tables must be both numbered and titled in
sequential order. Table number and name should be placed above
the table. Figures and Illustrations must retain Times New
Roman 12 Font All Figures, Tables, and Illustrations must fit on one
page.
