• 40 words or more should be a block quote with no quotation marks, indented and double spaced. Place citation after punctuation

• Less than 40 words use double quote marks. Place citation after closing quotation mark but

Documentation Figures and Illustrations Common Errors

ACS uses References not Bibliography References may be listed in

numerical order or alphabetical. If listed by number list chronically per

chapter. If listed alphabetically do so by

authors last name. Do not include references that are

not included in chapters.

Figures must be numbered and in sequential order. Figures should include a caption. Both Figure number and caption should be placed

below the actual Figure. Tables must be both numbered and titled in

sequential order. Table number and name should be placed above

the table. Figures and Illustrations must retain Times New

Roman 12 Font All Figures, Tables, and Illustrations must fit on one

page.

Combining numerical and alphabetical use in references.
