Transparency & Accountability Policy implementation

Began on 1 January 2009 and includes:

� Strengthen financial management sectionsin all new proposals and annual progress reports;

� Involve financial management experts on the Independent Review Committee;

� Develop an early warning system – a modelling tool that allows GAVI to identify risks pre-emptively;

� Conduct financial management assessment (FMA).

Accelerated Vaccines Introduction: The Plan

� Assist countries make decisions on introduction of pneumo & rota vaccines.

� Develop platform for introduction of other new vaccines.

� Target of 42 pneumo and 44 rota introductions by 2015.

� Detailed work-plan for 2009, with partners & AVI -TAC* roles mapped.

* TAC = Technical Advisory Consortium (merged ADIPs & Hib initiative)

� Regional Working Groups: strengthen the compositionHSS & Immunisation) and the function to better support implementation of GAVI policies.

� Strengthening civil society organisation involvement and representation.

� Manage the impact of the international financial crisis.
