Additionally, my interview with Colten Mosbach was very interesting. He said that he never enjoyed any of his high school years because he would rather stay at home and play video games. He did say that last year was harder because he took more mean- ingful class to fill his time. Colten plans on attending Iowa Central Community College to do something with technology. Brandon Assman is another senior that I interviewed. Brandon likes this year better than others, because it is much easier due to the harder classes last year. After high school, Brandon plans on attending Sheldon to become a power lineman. My last interview was Morri- son Ellis. Morrison enjoys this year more because it is more fun and because last year, he had more home- work. After high school, Morrison plans on attending Iowa Lakes Community Col- lege to become a mechanic Students Reflect on the Upcoming Events . . . 2-20 SCHOOL BOARD MEETING @ ROCKWELL CITY 7:00 PM 2-23 FFA SUBDISTRICT SPEAKING CONTEST @ POCAHONTAS 4:00 PM 2-24 JAZZ CONTEST @ WOODWARD GRANGER 2-24 SCC COFFEE HOUCE CONCERT @ LC COMMUNITY BLDG 7:30 PM 2-25 DISTRICT INDIVIDUAL SPEECH CONTEST @ MANSON 2-27 GIRLS BBALL AWARDS BANQUET 6:30 PM 2-28 ALL SCHOOL BAND CONCERT HS GYM @ 7:00 PM 3-2 FFA NEW OFFICER SELECTION 6:00 PM 3-3 STATE ACADEMIC DECATHLON @ CEDAR RAPIDS 3-4 STATE ACADEMIC DECATHLON @ CEDAR RAPIDS Friday, February 17, 2017 Issue 10 Super Bowl Commercials by Austin Wiskus The Super Bowl is an event that a lot of people are excited for. Secretly, though, we love the unique and funny com- mercials more than the actual game. It's a great time for companies to sell their prod- ucts and advertise them. With the amount of people who watch the Super Bowl, there is no better time to advertise. However, companies pour so much money into marketing at this time of the year; it's quite risky. Personally, my favorite com- mercial was the Skittles com- mercial when the boy threw the Skittles through the win- dow shouting, “Katie.” Some students like other commer- cials. Cody Schumacher liked the television series Stranger Things season two trailer. He said it really got him excited, because he loves the show and loves everything about it. Trevor Dettman likes the an- noying, yet funny commer- cials. Throughout the years, the commercials have had their ups and downs. Most of them are actually creative. I'm very excited to see what next year holds In the news . . . Senior Interviews by Keaton Hammen In May, the South Central Calhoun will have approxi- mately sixty graduates. Many of the kids have dif- ferent thoughts about how high school went for them and also have different plans after high school. Some will go off to college to further their education and others will go straight to the workforce. After in- terviewing for different sen- ior boys, I got very different answers to what they thought about high school and their plans after high school. Chase Mosbach told me that he enjoyed this year more than any other years of high school because it has been more fun. He said that last year was much more com- plicated, because he didn't come to school very often. After high school, Chase plans on attending Iowa Lakes Community College to major in diesel technolo- gy.
