Templeton Band a Huge Hit at March Cherry Pie & Coffee
Social Hour!
A crowd of approximately 120 people from all over Ravioli Alley
crowded into the Cherry Church Hall Thursday March 5, 2015 to see
the fantastic Templeton Band, a bluegrass and gospel group out of
Lostant, IL. The St. Patricks Day themed event was an especially
fun time for all. The Templetons wowd the crowd for over an hour
with their pro-fessional instrumental, singing, and even dancing
performances. Check them out at www.templetonfamilyband.com. Also,
please help the Templetons fund their next CD entitled Cherry Mine.
The CD is full of original bluegrass songs and fiddles tunes done
in the Templetons unique style. To donate to the effort, go to
Kickstarter.com and type Cherry Mine, watch the video and select
Back this Project. Make a donation of $20, $50, $100, or $200 and
receive the CD and other thank you gifts for donating. Deadline for
donations is March 28, 2015. Album release is April 27, 2015.
THANKS to Alice Ring, the Kirkmans, Bob Templeton and everyone else
that made this all happen!
Mr. St. Bede Academy Seeing Many Doing Great things
Those not directly exposed to St. Bede Academy could easily not
be aware of the Great level of volunteerism and support that so
many do every year to help the school and its students. This year,
eight brave volunteers competed for the title of Mr. St. Bede
raising over $34,000 along the way. These Great guys included Dr.
Bob Morrow of Spring Val-ley, Mike Brown, coach Jim Eustice, Dave
Hancock, Deacon Tom Jagella, Brother George Matsuoka, Brother Luke
McLachlan, and Andy Rice. The proud winner was Dr. Morrow with his
fantastic performance of Dr. Bob and Company. Bonnie Prokup again
did a tremendous job of co-ordinating the event as did Patti
Leynaud who has been chairman of the event since 2011. Good St.
Bede supporters doing Great things!

John OReilly, St. Bede Class of 1961: Going beyond Great to Make
His Alumni Class the Standard of Excellence
As people mature in life, they often recognize that there is a
very small group of 1% people that can launch your business, club,
or even high school alumni class to levels never thought reachable.
One trait of these 1% people is that their high level of focus and
tenacity allow them to drive through details and over obstacles,
understanding the power of their own relentlessness. John OReilly
has been just that person for the St. Bede Class of 1961 Alumni
Group. The Class of 61s has always been very close. A group of ten
boarders all from the same high school in Gary, IN provided an
unique and powerful nucleus. Although a large percentage of the
group moved away from Ravioli Alley, they consistently held
reunions every five years. Along the way, the group, lead by John,
did an excellent job
of tracking names and addresses. A very impressive group of
twenty-five got togeth-er for their 49th reunion simply to plan out
the details of their 50th event! John in-creased the pressure to
track down every class member, actually finding one class member
who was completely off the grid in Mexico. The 50th event was a
Great success! The class named John their Class Shepherd presenting
him with a staff. A glance at the 2013 -2014 St. Bede Annual Report
shows that the Class of 1961 has set a truly lofty mark for other
classes to shoot for with a perfect 69 of 69 class members donating
to the St. Bede annual appeal. The Class of 61 also started a
scholarship fund in the memory of the Great Father Allen. The fund
now contains over $175,000 that helps students attend St. Bede. Hey
St. Bede Alumni out there! Be like John and step-up SUPER LARGE and
have your alumni class reach these Great heights! Contact Julia
Yaklich, St. Bede Development Director at 815.223.3140 x359 or
[email protected] to learn more.

Joanne Buczkowski Helps Moms Earn While They Learn by Ashley
Choate, Hall High Student
Moms truly are amazing individuals and being a mother takes a
lot of work! Of-ten they need a little help from other people. This
is exactly what Joanne Bucz-kowski is trying to do -- help
expectant as well as new mothers. For the past 25 years, she has
helped pregnant moms by offering programs and helping the new
mothers obtain necessary items for their babies. She offers a
program that she calls Earn While You Learn. Soon-to-be moms, as
well as new mothers, meet at the Project Success office building in
Spring Valley on Thursdays from 3-5 p.m. Joanne gives a lesson that
better prepares the expectant mothers for having a baby. It also
provides those who already have a baby with additional parenting
tips. After staying for the lesson, the ladies earn mommy bucks,
which can be used to purchase diapers, wipes, bibs, and other
things that the mom will need for her baby. This is a Great thing
that Joanne is doing and it enables new and soon-to-be moms to get
a little help. She hopes to expand it and help more moms in the
near future. If there are any new or expectant moms in the area
that would like to be involved, just come to the Project Success
office building in Spring Valley on Thursdays from 3-5 p.m., or
give Joanne a call for more information. Joanne is doing a Great
job helping these moms, but she would like some more supplies to
give to the mothers. She is asking the community if they would be
willing to donate some items to help her support them better. Some
supplies that she needs include diapers, newborn to size 4 baby
clothes, onesies, sleepers, bibs, pacifiers, bottles, baby wash,
shampoo, lotion, powder, and wipes. If you would like to help
Joanne help these moms out, you can contact her by calling
815-481-2955. Let us all give a big round of applause for Joanne
and all of the help she is providing for these moms and their
babies!
