FAZtor’s Notes By Fr. Arnold Zamora I started this week with an up-set stomach. Not good news, not a good way to start the week. Could it be from the cold weather, or from the food of the many parties I went to? If last week was a “Merry and Mary” week, this week has been a “Christmas Party” week. Last Saturday, we had a Christ-mas party for our “Homebound” pa-rishioners. It was preceded by a Mass celebrated by Fr. Nick, our parochial vicar. The two main organizers, Jose-

phine Dito and Mani Glanz, were not able to attend because they were both physically challenged. Yet, they made sure that everything was taken care of. We are grateful for these two great and tireless workers who are always there to take on every challenge in ministry or in ordinary life. Later the Chinese Ministry Christmas Party was held at the same venue. The place was filled with laughter and cheers, but most of all with good food. After indulging myself with Chinese food, I could only eat dessert at a parishioner’s Christmas party that followed. The following day was the Christmas party for the Philippine Consulate at Intramuros Restaurant. As their chaplain, I have to say the invocation and prayer before they could eat. Wednesday was our Seniors Club Christmas party at the Irish Cultural Center. Thursday was the combined Christ-mas party for our Parish Pastoral Council, Finance Council and Parish staff at Fr. Don’s Dining Room in the Pastoral Cen-ter. Two Christmas parties are going on this Sunday; one for our Religious Education teachers and the other is the Arch-bishop’s Christmas party for priests and religious. With all the parties, your fridge might be packed with all the “to-go” foods and I have to decline the gracious offer of bringing home left-overs. You should label your stored food with the date, or else you will have an upset stomach, too. It reminds me of a story of a wife: I had changed my system for labeling homemade freezer meals. I used to carefully note in large clear letters, "Meatloaf" or "Pot Roast" or "Steak and Vegetables” or "Chicken and Dump-lings" or "Beef Pot Pie." However, I used to get frustrated when I asked my hus-band what he wanted for dinner because he never asked for any of those things. So, I decided to stock the freezer with what he really likes. If you look in my freezer now you'll see a whole new set of labels. You'll find dinners with neat little tags that say: "Whatever," "Anything," "I Don't Know," "I Don't Care," "Something Good," or "Food." My frustration is now reduced because no matter what my husband replies when I ask him what he wants for dinner, I know that it is there waiting.

To mark Holy Name of Jesus Church’s 85th An-niversary, a “Tree of Life”, a bronze tree trunk with approximately 400 leaves was installed at the back of the Church. Donors will have their names, or those they wish to honor, engraved

on the leaf. The proceeds of the donations to the “Tree of Life” will go towards a much-needed Cap-ital Improvement Fund. It is well known by all who gather here that we are constantly dealing with many repairs needed in our aging buildings (circa 1941, 1949 and 1964). We are confident that the funds raised from the Tree of Life will provide for some of the necessary expenses that we anticipate for the future. The Holy Name Tree of Life was un-veiled October 10, 2010 at the 85th Anniversary Mass and Pastor’s Installation presided by Most Rev. Robert McElroy. Each leaf costs $500 with a $25.00 engraving charge. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - YES, I would like to donate to the Holy Name Tree of Life Project

HOLY NAME OF JESUS’ TREE OF LIFE PROJECT

Dear Holy Name Families, Thank you to all of you who attended our annual Christmas Concert last Thursday evening. Mr. Tony Eiras and Ms. Nora Murphy, along with all of the teachers, worked hard to prepare our stu-dents for the evening event. Songs of the Christmas season filled the church as students sang with their “buddies,” performed The Twelve Days of Christ-mas and joined in with the audience to end the evening concert. Please join us on December 24 at the 5:00 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass. Students will take part in the reenactment of the birth of Christ, and the con-gregation will be led in song by Mr. Tony Eiras and Mr. and Mrs.Victor Flaviani. Coming together as a community as we celebrate Mass is the perfect way to welcome the Christ child. Merry Christmas and God bless you. Sincerely, Mrs. Judy Cosmos SHOPPING AT BORDERS? Please stop in at Borders Stonestown next week, Monday and Tuesday (the 20th and 21st) and have your gift items wrapped by our eighth grade stu-dents. They will be there from 1:00 to 8:00 pm.
