ScienceWe have learned all about the 6 simple machines (level, pulley, wheel and axel, wedge, screw and inclined plane). Your child will be coming home with a plan to build a machine using two of these simple machines shortly. We will be asking for you to help us collect different materials to build these machines. Social StudiesWithin the next few weeks we will be learning about different countries around the world. We will be looking food, clothing, climate, etc. We are hoping that our class families can help us to learn about different countries with any materials, books or artifacts that you would be willing to lend to the classes.

Literacy In Literacy, we will be continuing our unit on fractured fairy tales. The students are starting to write different versions of fractured fairy tale and by the end of the month they will be writing their very own fractured fairy tale. For reading, please continue to read with or have your child read for 20 minutes each day. When reading you can review any of the strategies taught in class such as predictions, connections, visualization. Please remember that we still have access to Raz kids and it is a great resource for you to use with your child.

MathIn math we have started learning about different forms of measurement including time, temperature, mass and capacity. We have also started looking at grids and will start to look at movement on grids.

Spring is arriving please be aware that we still need indoor shoes and proper attire and shoes for rain.
