I am a solid investment.
Many will profit from my knowledge. My education. My endeavors. My values.
The University of St. Francis (USF) is
many things to many people. For some
USF is a leading Catholic Franciscan
university in Joliet, Illinois, set amid
scenic surroundings and beautiful, historic
buildings. For others—including 20,000
online and off-campus alumni—it’s a
cutting-edge, web-based university offering
the latest online learning opportunities.
The truth is, the University of St. Francis
resides within its people - its students,
alumni, professors, and staff. In short, St.
Francis lives in you. Your success. Your
achievements. Your commitment to serve
others through your life’s work. As a USF
graduate, you are truly an extension of all
we are and all we offer. And when you
support USF, you are supporting a legacy
that lives on, continuing your generous
spirit through a new generation.
When you donate to the University of
St. Francis, you’re doing so much more
than just supporting a college. You’re
investing in people, full of promise and
ideas. You’re investing in a university
culture that instills values, confidence,
knowledge and the experience these
students need to compete in the global
economy. And, of course, you’re investing
in the same educational community that
provided you the skills and capabilities to
pursue your own potential. You’re
investing in a brighter future.
When you give today, more is
possible tomorrow.
We’re doing more than teaching from textbooks. We’re sharing values and insights that prepare students for life.“ ”
Taking online courses meant I could work, have a social life, and still continue my education. USF helped me go places without ever leaving my computer. “ ”
At the University of St. Francis, we are dedicated to becoming a premier Catholic Franciscan
university offering undergraduate degree completion, and graduate programs of the highest
caliber. And we are well on our way to achieving this goal. Consider the following:
• For the fifth consecutive year, USF
was rated a top tier institution by
U.S. News and World Report.
• For the second consecutive year, USF
was designated as one of the nation’s best
colleges in the “Princeton Review’s “Best
Colleges: Region by Region.”
• USF was one of the first
universities in the nation to offer
undergraduate and graduate degree
programs online. Our program is the
3rd largest in the state of Illinois,
offering 143 online courses with more
than 2,000 registered students per
semester.
• The College of Nursing and Allied
Health is considered one of the best in
the country, The Master of Science in
Physician Assistant Studies program in
Albuquerque, N.M. has a 100 percent
pass rate on the national exam.
• In 2009, USF began offering a Doctor of
Nursing Practice degree—one of only six
in Illinois, and one of only 120 programs
in the country.
• Our mission of service learning develops
tremendous character traits in students,
encouraging them to make service to
others a lifelong commitment.
A new vision guided by
long-held values.
Our journey to becoming a top Catholic
Franciscan university began almost 90
years ago. Then as now, the University
of St. Francis has been guided by the
core values of respect, service, integrity,
and compassion. We strive for academic
excellence in all our programs,
preparing men and women to contribute
to the world through service and
leadership. Today, we’re continuing
this journey in the face of new economic
realities and a commitment to be at the
forefront of innovation, creativity, and
academic diversity and excellence. We
need you to help us on this journey.
We need you to continue
our journey.
My education prepared me for more than a career. It made it possible for me to make a difference in people’s lives.“ ”
Service to others. It’s a belief we hold
deeply at the University of St. Francis. If
you’re a graduate of our renowned health
care programs you understand this better
than anyone. During your time at USF, you
learned what it means to provide care and
support to those in need. You had access to
the latest technology, the best professors,
and most importantly, like-minded people
who shared your passion and commitment.
In the process, you developed the skills and
expertise that has helped you become a
compassionate, dedicated health care
professional.
”Share your passion for
serving others.
A lot has changed since we graduated. It’s good to see the school’s values and commitment to service have remained the same.“”
At the University of St. Francis, our curriculum has
grown beyond our outstanding education, business and
science programs to include one of the premier nursing
programs in the country. We are looking to expand
our programs as we strive to become a leading Catholic
Franciscan university offering undergraduate
degree-completion, and graduate programs of the
highest caliber.
Building on our
success.
Your donation to USF has a real and
lasting impact. Funds from this capital
campaign will be directed to those critical
needs that will allow us to execute our
vision for the future. Funds will be
allocated toward:
• Expanded programs that extend our
offerings to students, opening greater
educational opportunities.
• New and improved facilities that will
allow us to continually recruit new
students, and the best and brightest
educators.
• “Learning centers” that will make it
possible for faculty to achieve integrated
instruction and move the university
forward into the 21st century.
• Planning for a new Natural and Health
Sciences building that will enhance
collaboration between faculty and
students, allowing them to
develop undergraduate research
programs.
• The ability to maintain small class sizes,
ensuring that students and professors
have more one-on-one learning
opportunities.
If you wish to create a lasting legacy
at USF, you may consider one of many
available naming opportunities. There
are opportunities available for the
Motherhouse and Tower Hall buildings
including several wings.

Endowment
Scholarships - Endowed scholarships will allow USF to continue to provide academically
excellent, Catholic Franciscan, values-based education to deserving students who otherwise
would not have the opportunity. Presently, the University of St. Francis awards more than
$11 million annually in institutional funds to academically qualified students with financial
need. An increased endowment will enhance the university’s ability to award need-, merit-
and program-based scholarships to students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Offering endowed scholarships allows the University of St. Francis to better compete in
recruiting students at all levels.
Programs
Center for International Education - The center’s goals include implementation of multi-
faceted study abroad programs; student and faculty exchange programs; internationalization
of curriculum for general education; and other major programs and initiatives.
Service Learning Resource Center - The Service Learning Resource Center programming
will include faculty and curriculum development; being host to a regional service-learning
workshop on campus; and providing a resource base. An existing structure will be renovated
to house the center.
Center for Innovation - The university plans to create a Center for Innovation, designed to
promote entrepreneurial projects and services within the university and to support business
incubation. The center will provide consulting, funding and resources needed to move from
concept to full implementation for innovative and profitable programs.
Program Planning for Innovative Natural and Health Sciences Building - A new science
building would be designed to encourage and facilitate new pedagogies and provide
expanded space for science teaching and undergraduate research.
Science and Environmental Education Academy - The Science and Environmental Education
Academy will offer a professional development center to K-12 teachers to enable them to
improve science literacy of high school graduates. It will also provide science enrichment
camps for K-12 students.
Visiting Scholars and Artists in Residence - Bringing nationally and internationally recognized
scholars and artists to the university will provide an exceptional educational experience.
Faculty will have the opportunity for shared learning, teaching and research.

As we embark on a historically important $8 million capital campaign, our vision is to become one
of the nation’s premier Catholic Franciscan universities. It is ambitious and it won’t happen over-
night. But with your help, it will happen. Here is how capital campaign funds will be disbursed.
How will the money be used?
Arts & Design Programming - USF will relocate its Arts & Design Department to the City
Center Rialto Arts District, home to a community of working artists. This move will serve
as a prime catalyst for the creation of a welcoming and invigorating environment to
provide access to the arts. The university will also offer an expanded arts curriculum.
Speaker Series - Funding of a Speaker Series will allow USF to continue to share the great
insights of men and women whose voices bring the world to the university and community.
Facilities
Motherhouse Renovation - The second floor, when completed, will become the university’s
welcome center to prospective students, parents, alumni, dignitaries and more. The
President’s Office and Admission and Enrollment Services will be located here.
Tower Hall Renovation - Tower Hall must be revitalized to offer learning environments that
meet the needs of today’s students. New classrooms and labs with state-of-the-art technology
will allow our programs to achieve full potential as among the best in the region.
Campus Beautification and Parking - USF’s urban setting requires great stewardship of its
green spaces and careful maintenance and creation of beautiful new spaces. We will create
outdoor spaces that will be calming, encourage reflection and allow recreational use.
Rialto / City Center Art Gallery - The Arts & Design Department will relocate to
downtown Joliet in the historic Rialto Square Theatre building. This relocation places the
department at the heart of a growing community of professional artists, and allows for
expansion and creation of the dynamic arts program and its community outreach.
Alumni Center - The university proposes to renovate an existing house it already owns to
provide a USF Alumni Center that will be central to re-energizing the alumni community,
enabling them to connect with each other as well as with their alma mater. It will house the
Alumni Relations staff and serve as a venue for alumni-related events and programming.

We all need help to realize our dreams.
Chances are, someone supported you
along the way during your college
experience at USF. Someone who, through
some measure, encouraged you on your
own personal journey. Maybe it was a
professor who took extra time to help you
in your studies. Maybe it was a one of the
St. Francis Sisters who offered some timely
spiritual guidance. Or perhaps, it was a
good friend who simply listened when you
needed a friend most. Whoever it was,
someone was there for you. Now we hope
you’ll be that person who’s willing to lend
a hand. With your help, the University
of St. Francis will continue the journey
to becoming one of the country’s premier
Catholic Franciscan universities.
