University of Kentucky Gill Heart Institute – Cardiovascular MRI Team Lexington, KY, USA About • Dimmi Jackson, Nurse, 2013-2016 • Simon Ratliff, Technologist, 2009-2010 • Emily Whittaker, Technologist, 2009-2012 We have been performing CMR since 2009, including routine stress testing. We have also expanded our clinical service to patients with pacemaker/ICDs, complex congenital heart disease. Our research has been focusing on non-contrast enhancement assessment of fibrosis, and methods to improve diagnostic CMR imaging with existing sequences. Aside from the 1.5T and 3.0T clinical scanners, we also have a 3.0T and a 7.0T (Bruker Clinscan) research MRI scanners with cardiac applications. • Jan 13, 2009 – First CMR performed at the Gill Heart Institute • July 29, 2009 – First stress CMR performed (in the state of Kentucky) • June, 2012 – Installation of Siemens MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T Scanner • July 1, 2012 – First advanced imaging fellow • June 19, 2014 – First pacemaker/ICD patient undergoing CMR (in the state of Kentucky) • Aug 25, 2015 – First pacemaker/ICD patient undergoing Stress CMR • 600+ CMRs a year with a fifth being Stress CMRs Team Members Physicists Peter Hardy 2009-Current David Powell 2016-Current Nurses Technologists • Becky Baker 2015-Current • Mary Fudge 2015-Current • Becky Meyers 2013-Current • Gibb Mills 2017-Current • Becca Egli 2014-Current • John Green 2009-Current • Joseph Jenkins 2012-Current Former Team Members PhD Students Tori Stromp 2014-2016 Wissam Hameed 2016-Current Kunal Bodiwala 2012-2013 (Advocate Heart Normal, IL) Vrinda Sardana 2013-2014 (Kentucky One Louisville, KY) Michael Mikolaj 2014-2016 (University of TN Chattanooga, TN) Arash Seratnahaei 2014-2016 (King’s Daughters Ashland, KY) Ashley Nickerson 2015-2016 (Magnolia Cardiology Corinth, MS) Vedant Gupta 2016-2017 (University of KY Starting 7/2017) Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Fellows (Post-Grad Job) • Global CMR Registry • T1MES Phantom Project • PRESERVE-AMI • ALLSTAR • Heart failure/Anti-fibrosis Study CMR Projects • Leung – Web, Educational • Sorrell – Web, COTW Reviewer SCMR Committee Members Members of the Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging team has had diverse training background Vision of CMR in 20 Years • CMR will be head-to-head against echo as the primary cardiovascular imaging modality due to shorter imaging time, providing more information, and not being limited by arrhythmia, breath holds, metallic implants, or renal insufficiency. • CMR will outperform MPI-SPECT as the major stress testing modality.
