Creative Engine

The Creative Engine is an annual 24-hour marathon of free graphic design assistance provided by the best and brightest of the university’s aspiring graphic designers.

Jamaica Medical Mission

The Jamaica Medical Mission is a week-long clinic that provides “free” healthcare to the Falmouth people who would not otherwise have access to care. The clinic sees over 500 patients in 5 days.

Take Back Your Time

In one service-learning class students hosted “Take Back Your Time” to inform the public regarding the adverse effects of time urgency in our culture.

Students spoke with local organizations about “Take Back Your Time” and received donations from many local organizations for a drawing where monies were donated to a local charity.

Summer Bridge Program

The University of Central Missouri’s Summer Bridge Program builds connections between students, parents and teachers in the Kansas City School District. The program is tailored for students who are first members of their families to attend college.

Mentorship Program

The UCM Mentorship Program pairs graduate student mentors with first-year students from populations that have been traditionally under-represented in higher education.

The program is aimed at providing the participants a supported and informed transition to college life and to provide guidance for them to become successful students and contributing members of the campus community.

The program assists students (primarily recipients of Cesar Chavez, Summer Bridge and MLK scholarships; possibly international and conditionally admitted students) in adjusting to college life, learning the campus culture and engaging in their academic and extracurricular endeavors.

Breakers

Every year Breakers travel to a different state to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity International. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner families).

This event is a call to action for students around the U.S. to make a commitment to service for others.

Instead of taking a day off, UCM students made it a “DAY ON "and demonstrated their dedication to helping those in need by participating in 1 of 10 different service projects on the MLK Day holiday.
