Panama is a small, enchanting country straddling the North and South American continents. Called the “Crossroads of the Americas”, this Central American nation
attracts increasingly large numbers of tourists each year. People from around the globe flock to see the country’s diverse attractions, which
range from destinations in Panama’s lush rainforests to urban hotspots in Panama City.
Whether one’s style is adventurous or laid-back, Panama has something to offer.
PANAMA COUNTRY
Panama’s diverse geographic features and extensive national park system make the country a paradise for those who love to spend their time out-of-doors
COFFEE PLANTATION:
One interesting activity for curious travelers is
visiting a coffee plantation. One can get a
peek at the process of growing some of the
world’s best coffee (and might even get a taste).
BIRD WATCHING:
Awaken to a tropical chorus of motmots, toucans, and fruit crows. Panama is one of the
hottest places in Central America to go birding.
The total number of bird species found in Panama, about 950, is surprisingly large, especially when you
consider the relatively small surface of the country. Some 150 of these are neotropical migrants that only occur in
the country from September till April.
DIVING AND SNORKELING
Whether is snorkeling or tank diving, the diving enthusiast is
bound to find his appeal in any of the various waters of Panama.
Panama offers both, the lively and colorful clarity of Caribbean style Atlantic; the vast and mysterious Pacific Ocean full of large marine species and the jungle encircled Gatun Lake, bed of the Panama
Canal
RIVER RAFTING
White water rafting in Panama is a very
rewarding experience you will probably never forget. Most rivers are located in the Province
of Chiriquí and offer sections from Class II to Class V, something for everybody. While
you raft in the rivers of Panama, you will see
flora, fauna, waterfalls, canyons and much wild
life.
FISHING
Panama is one of the top destinations in the world for fishing. In the oceans you will find a vast array of tasty fish as well as catch and release varieties.
EXPLORE HISTORY
Panama’s rich history means there are incredible ruins in the
country. If you’re in Panama city, check out Panama La Vieja
or Casco Viejo. Both are incredible sites to be seen.
Panama La Vieja was founded in 1519 and was the first European
settlement along the Pacific. Casco Viejo dates back to 1674 and features colonial buildings, cobblestone streets and original Spanish cannons. Portobelo on the Caribbean coast, has some
forts dating back to 1601.
TAKE A WALK
Panama City has two great parks within the
city limits. Parque Metropolitano is the
largest consisting of 265 hectares. Within the
park you can spot more than 250 species of birds and 40 mammal species.
