Dear Friends, We celebrate the quality of imagination this month. Imagination is our ability to dream dreams and to see with spiritual vision. Writers through the ages have shared insights about this wonderful faculty.

“The source and center of all man’s creative power…is his

power of making images, or the power of imagination.” Robert Collier

“We are told never to cross a bridge until we come to it, but this

world is owned by men who have “crossed bridges” in their imagination far ahead of the crowd.” Speakers Library

“Imagination is more important that knowledge.” Albert Einstein

“To become you must have a vision of being ~ a dream, a purpose, a principle. You will become what your vision is.” Peter Nivio Zarlenga

Each writer reminds us of the part imagination plays in how our

lives bring forth the desires of our heart. Join with me now in imagining the Center of Unity as a center of the Christ light, mighty to attract our good and radiate good to others. Our services and classes are overflowing. Our Montessori school is full with a waiting list of eager, enthusiastic children who want to learn in an environment of unconditional love and support. Young people bring friends to the activities of our church because they know the principles shared here can and will change the world into a place of peace, respect and order. Beautiful voices embrace our congregation with heartfelt love and joy. Each and every person who is a part of this ministry is supported in being the perfect manifestation of all that Spirit is. Care Team members continually hold the space for all humankind to awaken to the Christ Spirit. The abundant flow of financial resources allows us to honor all commitments, on time, with ease, peace, grace and there is an abundance left over. As we have used our imagination to create in the mind and heart our wonderful church, we have brought about a positive change. Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimension.” We continue to grow, unfold and move forward through our imaginations and love. Bless you for being a wonderful blessing to us. We’ll be saving a place for you because it just isn’t the same without you. You are loved beyond measure,

Exciting News! Beginning in June, you’ll be able to order the cards you want, paying for them in advance. Each month, on the 15th and the 30th, a bulk order will be placed and congregants can pick them up any time after they come in, usually 3-4 business days. Watch for the O.N.E. brochure with the order form and if you don’t see what you’re looking for there, contact Mary Salerno to see if it’s available. Since there are 100’s of cards, we can’t fit them all on the form but we’ll add them to the bulk order as requested.

Sunday, July 5 at 10:10 am Invite friends and family and join us as The Wing and a Prayer Chorale presents, “We Are America.” Byron Holder directs the choir through a musical celebration of our country and the freedoms we hold dear, while reminding us of our spiritual roots as a nation. The choir feels that it is very appropriate and fitting that we celebrate the freedoms we hold dear as a nation, and, at the same time, sound a clarion call to remember our spiritual selves, because…. We Are America!

Each week a volunteer leads a Discussion Group focusing on Rev. Carol's 3 message points from the previous week's service. Discussions are informal and look at ways to apply the points to every day life. If you missed the previous Sunday, this is a wonderful way to hear what others have to say about the service. Maybe you attended and don’t understand a certain concept or phrase. Bring that to the group to hear other perspectives. There is not one way of understanding anything. This group offers the opportunity to explore various viewpoints.

DISCUSSION GROUP

Sundays at 9:30 am

John Rouzer will be teaching the 5-week course that is designed to give attendees an understanding of the teachings and beliefs that are the foundation of the Unity Movement. John invites you to “come join this class and discover principles that empower you to live a Christ life.” Lessons in Truth will help you make significant changes in your life by teaching you how to better understand and put into practice the power of your own thoughts, beliefs and even the words you speak. Childcare is available upon request. Sign up at the Information Center. The book is available in the book and gift store. Anyone wishing to take the class for SEE credit must attend every class and will be required to pay a $45.00 registration fee.

John Rouzer began attending Center of Unity in 2007 and he liked what he heard so much that he took Membership 101 and joined the church. John began volunteering immediately, teaching Sunday school, which he still does each month. But that’s not John’s only volunteer role. He volunteers at FCI in Ft. Worth with the prison ministry. John is currently teaching The Quest to 12 inmates, and he feels that his development of this course, which was customized for them, is one of his greatest accomplishments. His students, with a variety of religious backgrounds, come to learn, discuss and grow as John facilitates the 10 week process, ending with a graduation ceremony and distribution of certificates for which the inmates have earned credit. John also teaches adult education classes and will teach his first SEE Credit Class in June. John served on the Board for 3 years,

retiring as Vice President this past February, and is a member of the Rev. Carol Record Scholarship committee. He also serves as a guest speaker throughout the year and is the one who not only comes up with the great sayings for our sign, but adds them as well. John feels that by volunteering, he facilitates spiritual growth in others and accelerates his own. John’s interests outside of church? “Cinnamon rolls!” he quipped without hesitation. Although cinnamon rolls are near and dear to his heart, he also enjoys spending time with his 103 year old mother, who is still an active volunteer, assisting the “old people” in her community. John spent the last 3 years focused on metaphysical studies as he prepared for his Licensed Unity Teacher certification. A bit of a foodie, John loves watching cooking shows and preparing recipes he sees while adding his own special twist as he goes. If you haven’t met John, there is plenty of opportunity to do so in any of his roles. He loves meeting new people, so don’t hesitate to introduce yourself; you’ll be welcomed with a handshake and a smile as warm as the sun.

WOW Sunday, June 21 at 12:00 pm

Let’s get our creative juices flowing and create some uniquely beautiful paintings. Here's how this fun, lively, and interactive "round-robin" will work: bring a picture that you want to put on canvas or you may have a picture "in your mind's eye," then using paints and brushes, which will be provided, each person will have 10 minutes to get "something" onto the canvas. Then, we will pass the canvas to right and after a few more minutes the canvas will get passed again! When everyone has "contributed" to all the canvases, we will have our "finished" product ... which will be BEAUTIFUL!!! So, bring a sack lunch, and a friend ... along with your imaginings ... and plan to have fun and learn, while getting to know your fellow Women of Wisdom!

SUMMER OF IMAGINATION

June is a month of many experiences. Those who live in the northern states are thankful for warmer months and additional time to spend outside with family and friends. We, here in North Texas, are thankful for the spring rains, full lakes, and, hopefully, no 100 degree days as yet.

I remember looking forward to the last day of school and the Memorial Day holiday, summer was really here and one of my favorite things as a kid, was to watch the clouds in the sky. My imagination went wild. Even as a young person, I was so thankful that God had made this wonderful place for all of His creatures. Just

by thinking about the peace and stillness of Mother Earth, I could imagine His peace, stillness, and love being expressed in the smallest flower, the unbelievable sky and countless other sights. I even thought that God’s love sometimes was in the “grumpy” lady who didn’t want me to take a shortcut through her yard. I was not aware of the principals of Unity then as I understand them today. But, I did have a feeling in my mind and heart that gave me a sense that divine order was all around me. Later in life, I would learn to follow Christ’s example and send blessings to the people who had not experienced the love that had been shown to me.

Challenges float in an out of our lives. Yet, the spirit of imagination brings us another choice on how to deal with those challenges. The

poet, Edgar A. Guest, once began a poem by writing, “The dreamer sees the finished thing before the start is made…” Do we dream by asking ourselves, “I wish.” Or, do we imagine and say, “This moment in life’s journey is really going to be great.” The Law of Attraction is just a positive thought away.

Just as summer brought me extra time and love from family and neighbors, my imagination allows me to share these blessings with others. There is an old Pawnee nation proverb that says, “All religions are but stepping stones back to God.” I believe imagination is a part of those stepping stones.

Blessings to you and your family and enjoy the summer.

BRONSON CHAPMAN: As a senior, Bronson soon graduates from Colleyville Heritage High School, and he will begin his basic university courses attending TCC then progressing to TCU or Texas Tech to obtain a BA in Business/Marketing, then progressing forward to obtain a Law Degree. Bronson has been working 20 to 25 hours a week while keeping a 4.0 GPA. Mr. Brett Kurtz, the General Manager of California Pizza Kitchen, shared that Bronson is a hard working individual who stays focused on

completing the task at hand and understands the importance of teamwork. His math teacher, Amy Griggs, stated that she has known few students as exceptional as this young man, consistently dedicating himself to excellence in all areas of his life.

MATTHEW CULLEN: As a Colleyville Heritage High School senior, trombonist and Head Drum Major of the CHHS Band, Matt plans to major in a Biochemistry honors program with his undergraduate focused on research/internship because he is intrigued by life at a molecular level and excited about its practical applications. He will directly move into graduate school with his long-range goal being to conduct professional research for a

university or independent organization. Gina Burnett, Matthew’s AP Statistics teacher, states that in her 28 years of teaching, Matt is one of the most intelligent, respectful and hard-working students she has ever taught. Working with him is a pleasure since he can always be counted on to work hard, follow through, and be enthusiastic about his responsibilities.”

ANDREW DRINKARD: Andrew, a Trinity High School senior, plans to acquire his basic courses at TCC while exploring the profession/occupation which interests him the most. Guidance Counselor, Mr. Paul Durapau stated, “Even though an immediate family member was facing severe health challenges, Andrew always remained focused to succeed in his academics and membership in football and track. Andrew is an excellent individual with admirable characteristics of a humble nature who is respectful, polite, faithful and steadfast in his journey of self-betterment to learn from life with an optimistic view. Janet Williamson M. S. stated that

he is a hard working young man who has a great deal of integrity, intuitive approach to problem solving, and always works well as a team member to effect an outcome.

SARAH HALFERTY: As a senior at MacArthur High School, Sarah has accelerated her calling to become a nurse by working at the school’s clinic with the school nurse. She states that she has always enjoyed helping people, as well as caring for them, and nursing provides her the best of both worlds. Sarah’s university choices are Texas Tech, Stephen F. Austin, and Northlake Community College. As the Secretary of the Debate Team, Debate Coach, Melody Tillman shared that Sarah has been more than the ideal

student by demonstrating outstanding leadership and maintaining a clear sense of purpose. Sarah understands the value of goal setting and the importance of team work. She has truly been hard working and dedicated each and every day while continuously exhibiting a positive attitude.

SYDNEY PEEL: Sydney is a senior at Colleyville Heritage High School with her sites on SMU, TCU, or Dallas Baptist for a double major in Art and Education. During her early years she found that art is a way to connect with students with special needs. She wrote, “I understand being disabled and the help of others had a huge impact on my successful recovery.” Toni Byam-Pirotte, Sydney’s AP Art History Teacher and Best Buddies Sponsor, stated, “Sydney is a natural leader. I can assure you that she will never allow

another to feel unaccepted or left out, she is keenly aware of those who need her acceptance and support.” Her counselor Stephanie Cook described Sydney as creative, compassionate, and perseverant. Sydney relishes the opportunity to stretch herself as a person; to be creative and explore all possibilities.”

CLAYTON RAINEY: As a Grapevine High School senior, Clayton plans to major in Business Administration within the hallowed halls of the UT of San Antonio, University of Houston, or UNT. His end goal is to be a Personal Injury Lawyer who begins his own law firm. In his preparations as an attorney, Clayton has had many job duties including jury member, teen attorney, jury monitor, jury check-in and volunteer trainer at the Metroport Teen Court. The

Metroport Teen Court Coordinator, Crystal Maddalene, wrote, “Clayton is very hard working and extremely passionate about the organizations he is involved. Not only does his volunteer work make a difference in the lives of our Teen Defendants, but he is a great example of a well-rounded young man.”

MARLAINA WIDMANN: Marlaina, a senior at Colleyville Heritage High School, plans for her major field of study to be Pharmacy. Upon receiving her bachelor degree she will progress to Pharmacy School at the top pharmacy program located at the University of California, San Francisco. Mr. Will Carter, Sydney’s AP Physics teacher, appreciated Marlaina’s meticulous and punctual work. He further shared, “As a person, Marlaina has a great deal of

character leading her. Her greatest involvement is with the fostering of rescued dogs through Canine Soulmates Rescue. Abandoned dogs are given to trustworthy houses and the dogs are fostered for a time in a loving environment before a great home is found for the dog. Sydney and her family have fostered 60 dogs since the start of her junior year of high school.”
