MÄGERLE MFP 50High flexibility for demanding applications

Strong character, reliable performance, traditionally cutting-edge technology: the MÄGERLE brand offers first-class grinding machines. When precision and productivity are required for simple or complex workpieces, MÄGERLE grinding machines are the first choice, whether for automotive engineering, the aircraft industry, hydraulics, in the machine tools industry or in medical technology. The stable machine design, geared towards high performance and longevity, is a distinc-tive feature of MÄGERLE grinding machines.

In all MÄGERLE series emphasis is placed on low-maintenance, heat-resistant and water-cooled spindle drives. A unique feature is the axis design with wear-free, fully enclosed hydrostatic wrap-around guideways and con-stant temperature distribution in all process-relevant components. These are supported on a thin oil film and are completely separated from the machine bed. The manufacture of complicated workpieces, even those at the lim-its of technology, with the required accuracy, is thus guaranteed. The surface and profile

grinding machines made by MÄGERLE are all based on the modular principle. This means that individually tailored solutions can be de-veloped to meet all customer requirements.

MÄGERLE MFP 50The MÄGERLE MFP 50 combines flexibility and performance in a com-pact design. As a 5 or 6-axes system, this CD grinding and machining centre shows its top form when dealing with challenging workpieces. The MFP 50 is characterized by its high axis speed, minimal auxiliary times and quick tooling change. Processes such as grinding, cutting and drilling can be carried out to perfection in a single clamping. High productive benefit with simple operation are the result. The intelligent design principle takes production quality, safety and cost efficiency to a new level. The coolant nozzle, controllable via two axes, allows unrestricted freedom of movement and precise position-ing of the coolant jet. Spindle speeds of up to 10,000 revolutions per minute guarantee the highest machining precision.The grinding wheels are always mounted right at the front of the spindle. The profile is changed through automatic positioning of the diamond rolls in the direction of the Z-axis. This allows a large ma-chining clearance, as collisions between wheel flange and workpiece are practically excluded. The MFP 50 enables significant cost savings through maximum utilization of the grinding wheel diameter.

MÄGERLE MFP 100designed for versatility and productivity, is distinguished by its high working speed and extendable tool changer. The MFP 100 is especially designed for markets that re-quire multiple-side and complete machining of heavy and complex workpieces in a single clamping. The 2-axes NC table can be con-veniently loaded from above and from the front, either manually, by crane or by robot.The MFP 100 tool changer works twice as fast as conventional solutions. The dual double gripper changes grinding wheels and diamond dressing discs simultaneously. As a result the auxiliary time can be signifi-cantly reduced. The accelerated tool change cycles are supplemented by a substantially increased axis dynamics. The integrated automatic nozzle changer enables minimal downtimes. The resulting increase in produc-tivity makes itself felt in the low unit costs.The MFP 100 also shows its strengths in terms of machining capabilities. In the stand-ard version the tool changer is equipped with a total of 30 tool holding fixtures. It can be optionally extended to 60. It can be equipped with all desired tools such as drills, cutters, CBN wheels or measuring probes.

MÄGERLE MFPMÄGERLE's MFP series comprehensively cov-ers the fields of application for surface and profile grinding machines. These machines specialize in creep feed grinding as well as surface and profile grinding operations us-ing the pendulum method. They demonstrate their complete performance potential in appli-cations where workpieces must be produced in large batches and with high stock removal volumes with the highest precision. Thanks to their robust construction, the machines in the MFP series also master these requirements in hard 24/7 continuous operation. The MÄGERLE MFP series has a modular design. Table lengths and vertical strokes in a large range can be freely combined with different additional axes and special compo-nents. This flexible modular system enables diverse machine configurations, which are precisely geared to the specific user require-ments.

MÄGERLE MGC FT The MGC grinding centre with stationary table is designed for the high-precision processing of large and heavy workpieces. With a broad range of different table sizes and vertical strokes, the MGC FT meets the highest require-ments in respect of load bearing capacity. Like all models in the MGC series, this grinding cent-er is also based on the proven modular concept. Thanks to its variety of configurations with one or several spindles in a horizontal and vertical arrangement, as well as a multitude of addi-tional components, the MGC with fixed console is also one of the front-runners in its category with regard to flexibility.

MÄGERLE MGC STLike its sister system in the MFP series, the MÄGERLE Grinding Center delivers superb results for creep feed grinding as well as for profile and surface grinding. In its swiveling table version, the MGC ST is also designed with the maximum production capacity. The 180 deg swiveling table allows loading and unloading of workpieces while machining is in operation. Non-productive times for work-piece change are thus largely eliminated. This results in maximum productivity for small and large batches, as well as in special applica-tions. Combined with an automatic loading and unloading system the MGC ST frees up additional reserves. The openly accessible swiveling table also offers the ideal interface.

MÄGERLE MGC RHWith table diameters of up to 2.5 meters and a maximum load bearing capacity of 12 tons, the MGC rotary table grinding center sets high standards worldwide. Well-known com-panies in the power turbine industry rely on this powerful concept. This grinding centre is unrivalled particularly when it comes to ma-chining turbine blades with Hirth gears and Curvic couplings of the highest quality. The direct-drive rotary table mounted on hydro-static bearings ensures the necessary preci-sion, with a positioning accuracy of less than three angular seconds.

MÄGERLE MGC RVVersatility combined with top manufacturing quality is the strength of this vertical grinding machine. Its characteristics make it ideal for the manufacture of bearing rings, where opti-mum true running characteristics are required for maximum smooth running. Equipped with rotary table and fully automatic tool changer, this vertical grinding machine can master oth-er functions in addition to grinding. Whether turning, milling, drilling, reaming or boring, this system delivers the same impressive re-sults. The vertically arranged spindle swive-ling through 50 deg offers plenty of space for machining a wide variety of workpieces. BLOHM PLANOMAT HP is a high-performance surface and profile grinding machine, which is used as both a universal machine in individual and small-batch produc-tion and as a cost-effective, customized production machine in all areas of industry.High infeed speeds and accelerations with the use of high-precision re-circulating ball screws with digital drives distinguish the PLANO-MAT HP series. Virtually maintenance-free linear guideways, linear scales for the Y- and Z-axis and a highly efficient grinding spindle drive complete the concept. BLOHM PROFIMAT MT Serieswas developed as a high-performance grinding machine for flexible technological applications. It is used for precision machining in series production for the automotive industry, the hydraulics industry, machine tools, the turbine industry and in tool and die making. With a grinding spindle drive power of up to 60 kW and a max. cutting speed of 170 m/s, these machines offer excellent application pos-sibilities for conventional, CD or IPD and all CBN grinding processes. The PROFIMAT MT series is supplied with the SIEMENS 840D solu-tion line control system, for which there is comprehensive operator guidance. BLOHM PROFIMAT MCThis series offers exceptionally compact and high-performance produc-tion machines, designed for precision, surface and profile grinding as well as internal and/or external cylindrical grinding of rotationally sym-metrical workpieces. In this traveling column machine series longitudi-nal and transverse movements and vertical adjustment are executed by the tool. With a horizontal spindle for drive capacities up to 60 kW, with fixed or alternatively NC-swiveling vertical spindle, the PROFIMAT MC se-ries enables a wide variety of applications. Use of the SIEMENS 840D solution line CNC control system with comprehensive operator guid-ance ensures optimal technical use of the machines.Accessories such as tool changing systems with up to 24 tool positions enable the use of drilling and milling tools, in addition to conventional and CBN grinding wheels. BLOHM PROKOSThe requirements of new grinding technology for high-speed travel grinding were systematically taken into account during development. The unique design of the PROKOS, with highly dynamic linear drives for the rotation and linear axes, enables very cost-effect grinding in interaction with the high-speed grinding spindle drive. Cutting speeds up to 150 m/s, infeed speeds of 120 m/min and ac-celerations up to 25 m/s2 permit very cost-effective grinding for all hard-to-machine materials. Very high stock removal rates and extremely low heat input into the workpiece, combined with reduced grinding wheel wear, are the ad-vantages over conventional machining methods. The optional use of an automatic tool changing system enables the complete machining of complex workpieces with grinding, milling and drilling operations. The BLOHM PROKOS therefore enables a wide range of applications, particularly for precision machining in machine tools, in the turbine industry, tool manufacture and in the bearing industry.

STUDER S11The production external cylindrical grinding machine for small parts features an installation space of just 1.8 m2. The highly dynamic axis drives in combination with the grinding wheel dia. 500 mm meet every possible requirement in respect of productivity and precision. The X and Z-axis are designed as a cross slide, and the longitudinal table is bolted permanently to the machine. This cross-slide system has been proven for years in machines for machining small parts. The grinding wheel arrangement is 0 or 30 degrees, depending on the application. STUDER S22Thanks to the modular design, the STUDER S22 can be configured with almost all existing subassemblies (workhead, wheelhead, tail-stock, measuring system, dressing etc.). Chuck or universal workhead, standard or high-precision C-axis (position and speed-controlled for form and thread grinding), belt or motor spindle wheelhead, standard, synchronous or fine grinding tailstock, dressing from the rear with a wide variety of devices etc. – the broad selection meets every possi-ble requirement. An integrated measuring system for measuring dur-ing the grinding process, for re-measurement, recording, evaluation and correction guarantees comprehensive quality control. For high-speed grinding a wheelhead is available with two grinding spindles in versions left/left or right/left for 400 wheels in the cutting speed range between 80 and 140 m/s. Heavy-duty applications with a 160mm wide grinding wheel are also possible.

Automatic speed profiles are used on the SIEMENS SINUMERIK 840D/840D sl control unit for this purpose. The CamGrind S is designed for CBN grinding wheels, with emulsion or oil as cooling lubricant. A grinding wheel diameter of 480 mm guarantees a long tool service life. The mineral casting machine bed has excellent damping characteristics and very high temperature stability.

SCHAUDT CamGrind Lis available as both a single-slide machine and a two-slide machine. Thanks to its perfectly coordinated modularity, it can be retooled and upgraded without problem if the application requirements change. As a single-slide machine the CamGrind L can be equipped with a B-axis and

3 grinding spindles. In its optimum configuration as a two-slide variant, it enables complete machining of complex shafts in a single clamping. Simultaneous machining of one workpiece with 2 grinding wheels is thus possible even at closely spaced points. The CamGrind L therefore offers a broad range of solutions for even the most challenging grinding tasks.

SCHAUDT FlexGrind seriesis the ideal universal cylindrical grinding machine for the high-preci-sion production of long and heavy workpieces, thanks to its modular design. SCHAUDT FlexGrind Mcan machine workpieces from 1,000 to 4,000 mm in length, with height of centers 310 mm and a weight of up to 1,200 kg, depending on the version. A variety of grinding operations, such as external and internal cylindrical grinding, cylindrical and noncircular grinding, thread grind-ing and traverse grinding, are available for the complete machining of different workpiece geometries. With nine standard wheelhead variants a wide variety of applications are possible for machine tools and vehicle manufacture. The workpiece range for machining extends from rollers, shafts and spindles for machine tools through engine parts and railway axles to pressure cylinders, web guide rollers and gearbox components for wind power plants and pumps.

MIKROSA KRONOS M 250 / M 400can be perfectly adapted to any grinding task, thanks to its modular design with 6 (optionally 7) CNC axes. The machine can be equipped with an overhung grinding spindle (M 250) or a portal-mounted grinding spindle (M 400). The high-precision grinding spindles mounted on roller bearings or hydrodynamic bearings achieve grinding wheel peripheral speeds of 63 m/s as standard, with optional CBN technology of 120 m/s.

MIKROSA KRONOS Kis a special machine for external grinding of tapered rollers using the through-feed process. This machine is based on the KRONOS M 400. However, the regulating wheel is replaced by a conveyor screw adapted to the dimensions of the tapered rollers.

MIKROSA KRONOS L 550 / L 660offers high performances for large workpieces. Strong, dynamic and flexible are typical attributes of this machine, which was developed es-pecially for machining large workpieces. It features a host of technical improvements such as optimized coolant return, an inner lining inside the full housing to encapsulate the work area and optional hydrody-namic grinding and regulating spindles (L 660). The infeed of both slides is by means of servo drive via a recirculating ball screw, pretensioned and backlash-free. Exact positioning of the infeed axes is ensured by linear measuring systems

MIKROSA KRONOS dual offers a combination of centerless grinding and grinding between cent-ers. In this way the workpiece center is preserved and workpieces which must retain a reference to the centering after centerless grind-ing can also be machined. WALTER HELICHECK PRO | PLUS4-axis CNC machine with solid granite block for the highest measuring accuracy. The HELI-CHECK PRO has three CCD cameras for non-contact measurement in transmitted light, incident light and front light. A permanently installed camera is available for each view – no swiveling or rotation. The HELICHECK PLUS has a second transmitted light cam-era, which provides the crucial advantage for manufacturers of micro tools. The 400 times magnification allows the field of application to be extended for tools from 0.1 mm in di-ameter.

WALTER HELICHECK PRO L | PLUS LWith the new HELICHECK PRO L and HELICHECK PLUS L measuring machines from WALTER it is now possible to measure tools with an overall length of 730 mm. All proven features and char-acteristics as well as the wide variety of impres-sive options from the HELICHECK PRO and HELI-CHECK PLUS are also available for machines of this type.

WALTER HELICHECK BASIC 2 | BASIC 3Optical CNC measuring machines with solid granite plate and tower design. The HELI-CHECK BASIC 2 is designed for complex pro-file or form measurements as well as control measurements in transmitted light. With three permanently installed CCD cameras, the HELI-CHECK BASIC 3 is designed for non-contact complete measurement of precision tools in transmitted light, incident light and face light.

WALTER HELISCALEHELISCALE is a very efficient optical inspec-tion and measurement device for rotationally symmetrical tools up to 50 mm in diameter, designed for the inspection and measure-ment of lengths, angles and radii. It is used in production and tool maintenance. HELISCALE can inspect and measure all types of lengths, angles and radii on tools such as drills, cut-ters, reaming tools, step tools from 2 mm to 50 mm in diameter and up to 300 mm in length.

WALTER HELISET UNOManual tool measuring and presetting device. This desktop model offers an excellent basis for tools and grinding wheels up to 230 mm in diameter and with a measuring length of 370 mm. The Edge Finder enables quick position-ing of the tool cutting edge in the measuring window. The HELISET UNO image processing software is equipped with extensive measur-ing functions, which are unique in this class.

EWAG WS 11is particularly suitable for the manufacture and regrinding of high-preci-sion micro tools and production parts made of hard metal, steel or other materials. The unique kinematics of the machine enables the manual ma-chining of a wide variety of tool geometries. The grinding process can be observed and monitored with the optical measuring system in a single clamping.

EWAG WS 11-SPThis universal grinding machine is a further development of the well-proven WS 11. The kinematics allows cylindrical and conical tools with straight and helical toothing to be ground and measured in a single clamping. Individual components, small and large series can all be ground equally cost-effectively.

EWAG RS 15is a precision tool grinding machine for the efficient manufacture and resharpening of cutting tools made of hard metal, cermet, ceramic, PCB, PCD and other materials. The wide variety of accessories ena-bles problem-free grinding of complex geometries. For example, the axial angle grinding unit allows grinding of the clearance angle on workpieces with axially inclined cutting edges.

EWAG COMPACT LINEThis 5-axes CNC tool grinding machine is suitable for grinding index-able inserts made of hard metal, cermet, ceramic, PCB and PCD. With its compact dimensions and exceptionally efficient technology, the COMPACT LINE sets new standards. The "three in one" dressing unit is responsible for perfect true runout of the grinding wheel and a high process repeatability precision. It enables dressing, regeneration and crush dressing on the same unit. The fully integrated 6-axes robot optimally supports the various plug & play clamping systems, which enable very high flexibility on the machine.

EWAG EWAMATIC LINEThe 6-axes CNC-controlled production grinding center for manufac-turing a variety of indexable inserts through to highly complex rota-tionally symmetrical tools made of hard metal, cermet, ceramic, PCB and PCD. Depending on your individual requirements, a multitude of grinding operations can be performed in a single clamping. In order to produce PCD tools cost-effectively the main stock removal is achieved by means of eroding. The subsequent removal of damage to the sur-face-near zone by means of grinding hugely increases the tool life and cutting edge quality. The star-shaped grinding spindle support with up to 6 independent grinding spindles (up to 12 grinding wheels) meets all possible requirements in tool manufacture.

EWAG INSERT LINEThe new high-speed 4-axes peripheral grinding machine for the pro-duction of high-precision indexable inserts meets the high require-ments on the market with precision and productivity: from the vari-able grinding wheel diameters, which also allow grinding of concave forms, through the optimal machine kinematics with hydrostatic guides, to the quality of the cutting surfaces. Grinding wheel diam-eters up to 500 mm support the new peripheral grinding technology of the INSERT LINE and reduce production time by up to 50 percent in comparison with conventional processes. The new grinding process from EWAG also achieves the highest form precision and cutting edge qualities.

EWAG LASER LINEThe unique kinematic concept of the LASER LINE is based on two le-vels. A 5-axis machine kinematic system with a superimposed 3-axis laser beam kinematic system. The combination of the two is essential for the efficient production of indexable inserts and rotationally sym-metrical tools in complex 3D cavities and final contour machining in a single clamping. The improvement in quality, precision and productiv-ity has reached a new, previously unattained level. The flexibility of the robot system used further enhances the high level of autonomy in the fully automatic infeed of tools.
