The Analysis of Teaching Material

1. The Analysis of Teaching Content This class is taken from section A of Unit 8 in Student’ Book 4. The students have already learned how to make a request in the Unit 7. In this new unit, they will learn different sentence patterns in asking and giving suggestions to others about present. Also, by practicing the sentence pattern that’s too boring/expensive, they will know how to compare qualities of presents and to express their own opinions about them.

The lesson is a new one of Unit8. Only if the students learn this lesson well can they have a better comprehension of the rest of this unit.

As the student of grade eight, they have already acquired some basic skills of learning English and can express their thoughts by using simple English sentences. Thus, they can complete the required task with directions by teacher. At the same time, they can engage in the task by the method of cooperative learning.

Teaching Procedures

1.Pre-task-Make a survey The teacher had gave some words about some subjects to students and asked them to do a survey "What's your favorite gift"last class. The result of survey should be presented with PPT,including the gift's name, picture, price and the reason.By this activity, students can review the nouns and adjectives they have learned before. Students also will be courious about this task's purpose and interested in this activity.

2. During task-Activity 1Report In this part, Students will present t

he result of their survey and talk about their feelings during that task.Chances are given to students in making their own dialogues. The aim of this part is to let students learn by doing and speak English actively.

3. During task-Activity 2 Making suggestions about gift giving

In this part, the teacher will focus on the explanation of the new dialogue in our textbook. Chances are given to students in making their own new dialogues in pair work according to the text they just learned. Students will be asked to fill in the blanks with the correct words with their partners.

The aim of this part is to let students have a good command of making suggestions about gift givingthrough this activity.

4. During task-Activity 3: Gift giving in the real environ

ment Father's Day is coming. What will you get

for your father? Students will be divided into ten groups(Five students/per group). Two students act as shoppers, two students act as good friends, the left one is one student's father.They can use their imagination ,make their own conversations in groups,and then act it out.

The aim of this part is to encourage students work in pairs, speak English actively and finsh the task of gift giving in the real situation.

5. Post task-Summary and assessment In summary, teacher will encourage students to draw their own knowledge map about this class. This is a good chance for students to develop their creativity and help them to recall what they have learned.
