  • Daily News In 1620, the Mayflower sailed from England to America with more than 100 Pilgrims onboard. The Pilgrims planned to settle in Virginia, but the ship got lost during a storm. They landed at Plymouth Rock, and the Pilgrims decided to build their settlement there. While they built their homes, the settlers lived on the Mayflower.

  • Daily News Did you know that the Pilgrims were not the first people to settle in America? Native Americans lived in small groups across the country. Some Native Americans lived in houses called wigwams, and some lived in teepees. Other Native Americans used snow and ice to make their homes. Native Americans showed the Pilgrims how to hunt and grow crops.

  • Daily News I read in a book that the chores for Pilgrim children included gathering wood, milking goats, and picking berries. The Pilgrim girls helped with cooking. They learned to make candles too. The boys helped with harvesting the crops and hunting for food. What are some of your chores?

  • Daily News Pilgrim boys and girls played some of the same games that children play today. They played marbles, board games, and hide- and-seek. They had to make their own toys. The girls made dolls, and the boys used pieces of cloth and wood to make kites.
