Unit 4 AO3 Define and identify common work-related hazards and risks in two contrasting public services suggesting ways that they could be minimised. Introduction In this AO I am going to look at two contrasting public services and examine the hazards and risks involved in the job and how to minimize those risks by looking at the training and the health and safety equipment in the job. F or example if you are in the army you need training to learn how to deal with every situation involved in the job and by having that training you will have the knowledge to deal with the situation and overcome the risks and hazards. The two contrasting public services I am going to be looking at is the army and the police service both of these public services are totally different but they can have the same hazards and risks involved in the job for example in the army you are more likely to have a casualty but in the police force you can still get hurt or wounded on the job. Risks and hazards within the police force Risks in the police force on a motor vehicle pursuit- one of the most dangerous risk in a motor vehicle pursuit is putting a member of public in risk, when you are driving in a built up area you have to drive fast to keep up with the person you are chasing but you need to be careful at the same time because its one of the most dangerous thing you could do by driving round the public and you need to be a very experienced driver by having the knowledge of driving and the way the police force could minimize the hazards risks in this part of the job is by training the police in an experienced driving course and you could learn the correct techniques in how to turn a car off the r oad. Another risk in the police force is in the riot squad because the amount of people protesting can outnumber the police so it is important you know your training on how to control the group of people because if you dont know your training you could hurt your team mate or one of the protestors and fo r it to be a successful riot you need to know you
