Unit 21 Evaluation For unit 21 we were given the opportunity to choose what we wanted to do. We were given the options of photography, a music video, a short film, or a print advert. Initially I wanted to make a short film because I had watched short films from previous years and they were interesting. After planning and deciding, I chose photography because it was a subject I enjoyed the most of all, whereas filming was something I felt I hadn’t enjoyed as much. Originally I was going to take photos with a variety of topics and put them into an exhibit. I decided not to do this because I was running out of time and if I was to take photos of a variety of topics then I would have needed to go to lots of different locations outside of school hours, which was not easy due to not having the opportunity for transport. My final product did not turn out how I wanted it to be however I’m not disappointed by the final outcome. I used Photoshop rarely in my final piece. There are only 2 images that are edited and I feel happy about this because originally I didn’t want to have an exhibit consisting of edited photos. For my pre-production I researched popular artists of topics: macro, landscape, architectural, wildlife, and forced perspective. The images from the artists inspired me and made me take images similar to theirs and give me further ideas for my final exhibit. During production I took roughly 50 photos, if not more. I feel that taking roughly 50 photos helped me because I was then able to choose out of a great range and select the best. I also feel I could have the used the time I had more efficiently. I feel that if I was able to organise transport then I could have had a greater collection of interesting images. During the process, when I did some editing on Photoshop, I learnt about some new tools I hadn’t realised what they could do and that they could add a lot more interest to my images. For example I learnt about the tool ‘Hue/Saturation’. This allowed me to adjust the colours within the image.
