I. Grammar

1. Form(-) Negatives

Have not = haven’t Has not = hasn’tExamples: We haven’t visited Hue before

He hasn’t gone out

S + have/has + not + PP (Past participle)

Examples: Have you ever been to England? – No, I haven’tHas he lived here for 5 years? – Yes, he has

2. Uses and adverbs

- For the actions that happened in the past with indefinite past time. It normally goes with some adverbs such as: ever, never, already, lately = recently, occasionally, not…yet, yet

Examples: I’ve already read this book.She hasn’t had lunch yet.

2. Uses and adverbs

- For the actions that have just happened. We use adverb “just” in this case

Examples: He has just gone outI have just painted the door. Don’t touch it

- For the actions that happened in the past but last to present (or leave the result at present) and maybe, last to the future. It is used with “for” and “since’

For + a period of time:Since + definite time/ clause

Grammar spot

- Complete the sentence: (1) seen (2) haven’t (3) had

- “yet” comes at the end of a sentence, “just” comes before the past participle

- We can use “yet” in positive sentences and questions
