MEDITATION Meditation is an evidence-based method for increasing concentration and mental clarity, and helping to induce positive states of relaxation and well-being.MEDITATION WITH ESTY—THURSDAYS AT MEMORIAL UNIONTake a break from work and stress in this quiet time which includes meditation, movement and breath work. Esty Dinur is a longtime student/practitioner of spiritual traditions. She led meditations in Madison, California, and Israel and has initiated and led the first-ever meditation room and workshops at the national convention of Veterans for Peace.

UHS MEDITATIONMeditation classes at UHS introduce the general principles and benefits of meditation. Students practice different types of meditation including: breathing-focused, mantra-focused, loving kindness, humming, third eye, and chakra. All classes are free and open to students, faculty, and staff. No registration required. Classes are:

Tuesdays | Noon - 1 pm (21 North Park Street #7045) Wednesdays | Noon - 1 pm (Union South TITU) Thursdays | Noon - 1 pm (Union South TITU)

TERGAR MEDITATIONThese unguided "Open Meditation Sessions" are open to everyone. Each session is divided into 30 minute practices and you are welcome to come for as little as 30 minutes or as long as the entire time. If you want to join us after the starting time, the meditation room will be open to enter on the hour or half hour. All events are at 301 S Blount Street in Madison. Questions? Think you need to join a gym to get a good workout? UW Health sports performance specialist Alison Regal disagrees. Regal, who works with athletes of all ages and abilities in a state-of-the-art performance center, says you can get a complete workout at home, even if your time, space and equipment are limited.

HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS FOODThe University Health Services has many good recipes (black bean and green soup, Huevos Rancheros, Glazed Chicken, and more).Find even more from the Million Hearts® Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Resource Center. These fresh ideas are sure to make your meals both fun and healthy!The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has two very useful handouts: “Understanding and Using the Nutrition Facts Label,” and “Key Nutrients and Your Health” with information that can useful for your health. Copies are also in the Wisconsin Union breakroom bulletin boards.

Employee Assistance Program – Assists faculty and staff with maintaining and enhancing both their personal and professional lives. Services promote emotional well-being, as well as respectful and productive work environments.

Ombuds Office – Facilitates understanding, communication, and resolution of conflict for all university employees. An Ombuds will confidentially listen to your concerns, clarify procedures, discuss options, and, if requested and appropriate, serve as an intermediary in attempting to resolve disputes.
