Akpos was once employed in a school and he went to the class to teach. The first day. Akpos: Good morning students: Students: Good morning sir! Akpos: I'm going to be your new Biology teacher, so do you know what we have this morning? Students: No sir!. Teacher: Since you don't know it, there's no point teaching you.Akpos went and came the following day with this conversation. Akpos: Good morning students. Students: Good morning sir. Akpos: Do you know what we are having this morning? Out of fear of the previous day, they said "Yes sir". Akpos: Since you already know, there's no point teaching you again. The third day. Akpos came back to class and asked again. Akpos: Do you know what we are having this morning? Out of confusion some said Yes, while some said No. Akpos: Alright then, let those who know teach others who don't know.!

Replace toothbrushes frequently Change your toothbrush every couple of weeks as their bristles can become infested with bacteria and the moisture in toothbrushes serves as an ideal breeding ground for them over time. Frayed bristles are a clear indication that it is high time to get yourself a new toothbrush. Children's toothbrushes need to be changed more frequently, keeping in mind their lower immunity levels.

The theme Some went to the camps with their ID cards and of course of the conference was as thought-provoking as it was pungent: everyone wore the branded shirts on which the names of the “Turbulence in University Education in West Africa: Quality, graduands were inscribed. The bone of contention was the Mentorship and Access”. innocuous statement, “If you are not a student or alumnus of

The roll call was they would not rush home for their convocation and they intimidating, showing the quality of the organisational showcased their state-of-the-art certificates immune to acumen of the body. The Vice-Chairman is our amiable Vice- forgery. Then, they displayed their transcripts to graduates of Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), and the other universities who might not even see their certificates in Secretary-General is our dynamic immediate past Vice- the next five years. So, they started to attract envy and bashing Chancellor, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede (OFR). on social media by those who wished they were like them!

The opening ceremony last Monday was chaired by At the conference, even presentations were not the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, represented by the complete without some reference to the University and Mr Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, and keynote Kehinde Olalusi, that vibrant young lecturer, dazzled the speakers included former Olusegun Obasanjo, ably distinguished audience with his presentation, “Academic represented by Prof. Peter Okebukola; former Chairman of the Mentoring and not Tormenting: A Discourse on Staff and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Students of the Performing Arts Department, Unilorin”. Ministers, Senators, Members of the House of I think Unilorin, its students, alumni and staff have all Representatives, former Ministers of Education from Chad the bragging rights because the University remains the one to and Togo, the Secretary Generals of the Association of African beat in Nigeria, with accolades showered on it from all sides at Universities (AAU) and Association of Vice-Chancellors of all inter-university and international events. Nigeria today has Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) as well as the Executive 141 universities (40 Federal, 40 State and 61 Private) and 40 Secretaries and representatives of NUC, NBTE, TEFFund, years after its establishment, the better by far University is the ECOWAS, among others, all graced the event. most recognisable. Little wonder it is the toast of all.

What was interesting throughout the entire The Unilorin's touch of excellence is everywhere and conference was the regularity of reference to the University of what is important is to keep the flag flying as the University is Ilorin, the University many Vice-Chancellors openly declared doing. I appreciate the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ambali, for they were looking up to. And the University of Ilorin too has taking me along to participate in the conference and commend swagger, let's say the truth. Everybody drank Unilorin Water, the Secretariat under the former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. over 1,200 bottles of which were readily available to the Oloyede, for a well-organised event. Two amazons of the participants. I could see how several dignitaries were admiring University of Ilorin, the Director of the Centre for Research the bottles. Everywhere, it was Unilorin! Those of us from the Elisabeth De Campos, who was the English-French translator, University could not but feel proud because the feeling was also added panache to one of the most successful conferences I electrifying, i.e. standing out among 256 West African have ever attended, where I also did my own little bit.
