The objective of programs initiated from UIPE is to fully integrate CBRN/TIM protection into an ensemble, identical in fit and form to the combat uniform (including mask/helmet
integration and protective boots and gloves) . . .
The UIPE goal is to increase warfighter operational performance in a CBRN environment through critical
examination of threat data, emerging technologies, and user tradespace while seeking to balance factors like protection,
heat stress, durability, antimicrobial properties, launderability, self–detoxification, protection time, etc…
Accordingly, UIPE will provide incremental technologies with military utility that are modular in their function, and are an
improvement in form and fit over current systems….

• UIPE I1 is a Single Supplemental System Providing CBRN Individual Protection to the Warfighter through a Reduction in Physiological and Psychological Burdens Associated with the Weight, Bulk, Thermal Strain, and Encumbrance of Wearing CBRN Protective Gear
• UIPE I1 Capabilities will Include: – Protection from CB Warfare Agents to Include Retention of
Protective Capability after Exposure to Environmental Contaminants
– Suitability of Wear while Performing Combat Operations on Land or at Sea, in Multiple Climates, with Minimal Impact on Combat Effectiveness
• Ability to Tailor Materiel Solution (“Toolbox Concept”) to Optimize Protection Based on Mission and Threat

Reduce thermal burden by 25% over currently fielded Personal Protective Equipment ( (JSLIST and AP-PPE in MOPP IV configuration) as measured by additional minutes wearer can safely operate, while performing assigned missions, given the following environmental conditions, with decreased heat casualties, based on core temperature range measurements.
Thermal burden of LCBPG is equivalent to combat duty uniform with mask, boots, and gloves in terms of operational minutes wearer can safely operate based on core temperature range measurements in the following environmental conditions in MOPP IV.
Chemical Agent Resistance 12 hours of protection after 48 hours of unchallenged wear.
24 hours of protection after 96 hours of unchallenged wear.
5g/m2 liquid agent challenge for HD, TGD. 10g/m2 liquid agent challenge for HD, TGD.
Durability Will be durable enough to withstand the field environment
