Development of SWH

2002: SWH started with the purchase of one heating plant

2003: 3 heating plants and heating nets were handed over to SWH by WBG (one of the shareholders)

2004: project development of several power plants for green electricity and additional heating plants

2005: project development resulted in the construction of 5 major power plants - SWH holds at least 51% share

2006: further project development and implementing operational concepts

2007: 19 plants in operation, 7 plants under construction, internalization prepared

SWH - our products

Heat from wood

• local- and district supply for heating systems

and hot water processing

• process heat (hot water/steam) for

industrial plants

Electricity from wood

… from combined heat and

power plants (CHP) to feed into the net

Page 9: UNECE/FAO Wood Energy Workshop, Belgrade, 26 and 27 Nov. 2007 · UNECE/FAO Wood Energy Workshop, Belgrade, 26th and 27th Nov. 2007 current technologies for heat and combined heat

biomass offers several advantages

• Regional value added by utilization

of regional biomass

• A CO2 neutral energy generation

• A renewable source of energy

• Guaranteed supply by sustainable

natural resource management

• Protection of jobs in rural districts

• Leadership in technology through

increasing application

Page 10: UNECE/FAO Wood Energy Workshop, Belgrade, 26 and 27 Nov. 2007 · UNECE/FAO Wood Energy Workshop, Belgrade, 26th and 27th Nov. 2007 current technologies for heat and combined heat

biomass combustion

• high temperature process (800-

1.200 °C)

• air ratio λ > 1

• chemical energy stored in fuel

(heating calorific value) is set free

by oxidation of organic matter and

heats the flue gas
