Torque wrench tightening specifications must be strictly adhered to. Where specified, install newlocking devices (e.g. lock tabs, elastic stop nuts). If the efficiency of a locking device is impaired,it must be renewed.

UNCRATING
UNCRATING1. Carefully lay the crate on its bottom on a firm,
level surface.
NOTICE Allowing the crate to drop may causeserious damage to the vehicle.
2. Remove all screws retaining crate cover tocrate base. Use a Robertson screwdriver #2(square tip).
3. Assisted by another person, lift up crate cover.4. Raise cover vertically (both ends at the same
time).
NOTICE Do not tilt cover while lifting it.

5. Cut straps compressing the four shock ab-sorbers.
CAUTION Shock absorber straps MUST BECUT FIRST to avoid potential injury during ve-hicle straps cutting.6. Cut straps retaining the front and rear of the
vehicle to crate base.
CAUTION Never stand in front or behindthe vehicle while straps are being cut.7. Remove protective wrapping from the vehicle.
NOTICE While manipulating to cut, take carenot to damage trim components with blade.
8. Remove boxes, parts and equipments fromcrate base.
9. Adjust the handlebar, refer to HANDLEBAR inthe PARTS TO BE INSTALLED section.
10. Carefully move vehicle out of the crate base.DO NOT apply brakes to stop the vehicle.
Brake Cleaning1. Clean brake discs. At each brake:
1.1 Remove wheel.1.2 Clean brake discs using XPS BRAKES AND
PARTS CLEANER (P/N 219 701 705).1.3 Install wheel and tighten lug nuts to

– Always stop engine before refueling. Openreservoir cap slowly.
– If a differential pressure condition is no-ticed (whistling sound heard when loos-ening fuel reservoir cap) have vehicleinspected and/or repaired before furtheroperation.
– Fuel is flammable and explosive under cer-tain conditions.
– Never use an open flame to check fuellevel.
– Never smoke or allow flame or spark invicinity.
– Always work in a well-ventilated area.– Never top up the fuel tank before placing
the vehicle in a warm area. As temperatureincreases, fuel expands and may overflow.
– Always wipe off any fuel spillage from thevehicle.
Recommended FuelUse regular unleaded gasoline or oxygenated fuelcontaining less than 10% of ethanol or methanol.Refer to the following table for recommendedminimum octane rating:

Engine Oil

Recommended Engine OilFor the summer season, use XPS 4-STROKESYNTH. BLEND OIL (SUMMER) (P/N 293 600 121).For all seasons, use XPS 4-STROKE SYNTHETIC OIL(ALL CLIMATE) (P/N 293 600 112).NOTE: The XPS oil is specially formulated andtested for the severe requirements of this en-gine.
If not available, use 4-stroke SAE 5W40 engine oilthat meets or exceeds the requirements for APIservice classification SG, SH or SJ. Always checkthe API service label certification on the oil con-tainer it must contain at least one of the abovestandards.

Outlander X mr and MAX LIMITEDVerify if the ACS compressor works.– Start engine.– Use the multifunction gauge and change the
suspension settings.Check all suspension hose fittings for leak.Retighten if required.
Brake System Pressurization1. Activate handlebar brake lever(s) as well as the
foot pedal.2. If the brakes feel spongy, pump the handlebar
brake lever (s) as well as the pedal.3. Continue until brakes have a firm feel and work

Brake BurnishingInduce normal braking 10 to 15 times using thebrake lever(s) and brake pedal in order to matchthe brake pads with brake discs.
Vehicle Cleaning1. Wash and dry the vehicle.
NOTICE Never use a high pressure washer toclean the vehicle. USE LOW PRESSURE ONLY(like a garden hose). The high pressure cancause electrical or mechanical damages.
2. Remove any dirt.3. Clean vinyl and plastic parts, using a chamois,
a flannel cloth or a microfiber cloth with XPSMULTI-PURPOSE CLEANER (P/N 219 701 709).
NOTICE It is necessary to use a chamois, aflannel cloth or a microfiber cloth on plasticparts to avoid damaging surfaces. Never cleanplastic parts with strong detergent, degreasingagent, paint thinner, acetone, products con-taining chlorine, etc.
4. Clean the entire vehicle, including metallicparts, with XPS ATV WASH (P/N 219 701 702).
5. Painted parts which are damaged should beproperly repainted to prevent rust.
