Studio IIn this studio, our objective was to connect an everyday human experience to the experience of architecture. My project began by examining the relationship between myself and another person.

CancerA force of nature inspiring change.A struggle inspires change. and nature inspires in general. Through its vastness and its detail, through its inability to be tamed or fully under-stood. As disconnected as we think we have be-come from it, it is still around us at all times. It is a tornado. It is an insect. It is the cells inside our bodies. It is cancer, a destructive force of nature, which so many people face in their lifetimes. But cancer can be a positive, creating force as well. It gives us cause to come together, in our families, with our friends to hope for a better future. A healthy and prosperous future, It causes us to reflect upon our deepest values and emotions. It makes us stronger. The cancer museum is about this struggle and the positive things it brings to our lives.

The story of the cancer museum began with a need. The city of Tulsa, Oklahoma is disconnected through urban sprawl and discrimination, cre-ated by apathy and misunderstanding. A place is needed to bring people together. To inspire them to grow and change. To realize their full potential as a community and as individuals.

People need something to bring them together that disregards social status or differences. In the case of these Tulsa youth, that common ground is skateboarding. They are brought together through this shared passion.
