    Its a fact that there are more computer science jobs available in North America today than there areeducated people to ll them. That means UNB Saint John computer science graduates can expect a

    healthy and diversi ed job market.

    Our four-year BScCS program will teach you the fundamentals. Youll learn how to design and operatea computer system and understand programming languages, computer hardware, data structures and

    algorithms, business information systems and innovative software tools. Youll also develop network and

    interface design skills.

    You may either complete a regular BScCS, or choose a specialization. UNB Saint Johns BScCS degree, and

    all its associated specializations and honours, are fully accredited by the Canadian Information Processing

    Society (CIPS). Courses counted toward certi cates can be pursued independently of or concurrentlywith a bachelor degree.

    Become a mathematics specialist or expand yourmathematics knowledge with this certi cate

    You can get your BScE off to a great start in Saint John, enjoying the bene t of small classes for the rst

    Explore the full breadth of the nursing profession, from community nursing to emergency care, with ourBN program.

    Our campus is adjacent to New Brunswicks largest health care facility, the Saint John Regional

    Hospital the provinces main trauma and heart care centre and medical teaching facility. Youll beginwith introductory classes in the physical and social sciences along with courses geared toward career

    development. In your second year youll focus on health specialties such as mental health, young families

    and the relationship between bodies and disease. Third year courses concentrate on acute care while

    fourth year studies focus on community nursing.

    Our students receive valuable real-world experience during clinical care practicums at both the hospital

    and through local community, industry and public health programs and agencies.

    LIVING ON CAMPUSWe think youll like the people in our neighbourhood. Our on-campus housing is located right

    in the heart of the UNB Saint John community just a short walk to classes, sports and tnessfacilities, the Hans W. Klohn Commons, the Baird Dining Room and Col. Tuckers our student

    pub. Our indoor pedway system will keep you connected and also warm and dry when itsraining or snowing outside.

    UNB Saint John has two residences. Both buildings are equipped with high-speed Internet

    and cable TV connections in each room at no extra cost. The Sir James Dunn Residence offerstraditional on-campus accommodations, with mainly private rooms and full meal plans. The Dr.

    Colin B. Mackay Residence offers private, one-person bedrooms with an ensuite kitchenette

    and bathroom shared between two rooms. Residences are security-locked, and have common

    laundry facilities, TV rooms and study lounges.

    Meal plans are arranged using a debit-type card. The Baird Dining Room offers meat and

    vegetarian entres, fresh-to-order sandwiches, a grill, all-day breakfast and soups and salads. You can even use your meal card at the Tim Hortons on campus.

    INTER NATIONAL EXPERIENCESDont wait until after graduation to see the world! UNB Saint John offers you the chance tobecome a global citizen through our Student Abroad Program. Pre-departure sessions and

    workshops help you prepare for cross-cultural living. The Student Abroad Program also

    provides travel awards to help with the cost of travelling and living abroad.

    EXCHANGES Spend a term or two with one of our university partners abroad. They all offer courses in Englishand will provide free introductory classes in the national language. The courses you take will be

    credited towards your UNB degree and are covered through your regular UNB tuition.

    INTERNSHIPS Gain valuable work experience abroad. The UNB Saint John primary internship is a 10-week

    If youre a student entering UNB Saint John directly from high school, you will be considered for scholarshipsupport based on your scholarship average.

    Your scholarship average is based on the admissions average (the average of the six courses required for

    The admission average is the average of thecourses required for admission. For thosestudents who have required courses that arebeing taken in the second semester of highschool, and for which grades are not yet available,the pre-requisite course (usually grade 11) will beapplied to make a grade estimate for the speci cadmission course.

    Bachelor of Education (BEd)Students must have a minimum of 30 credit hoursin the Bachelor of Arts degree in order to be

    considered for admission to the BEd degree.
