Today the United States President came to on

his first-ever official visit to India. Trump has

touched down in Ahmedabad, India. Trump and

the first family of the US were welcomed by

Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport,

following which he had a brief halt at

the Sabarmati Ashram.

आज संयुक्त राज्य अमेररका के राष्ट्र पति अपनी पहली

आतिकाररक भारि यात्रा पर आए। ट्र म्प ने भारि के

अहमदाबाद में छुआ है। ट्र म्प और अमेररका के पहले

पररवार का प्रिानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने हवाई अडे्ड पर

स्वागि तकया, तजसके बाद साबरमिी आश्रम में उनका

संतिप्त पडाव था।

Trade Cooperation between India and the U.S:

The India & U.S. are stable trade partners over the years.

The U.S.-India trade in goods and services has grown at a steady

rate from $16-billion to $142-billion during 1999-2018.

The composition of trade is in India’s favour with India enjoying a

trade surplus with the U.S. of around $23.3-billion.

Although, there are certain disagreements between the two

countries over several aspects of India-U.S. trade, as well.

The U.S. and Indian authorities have developed disagreement for

years on issues like

भारि और अमेररकी वर्षों में स्थथर व्यापार भागीदार हैं।

सामान और सेवाओं में अमेररका का भारि व्यापार 1999-2018 के दौरान $ 16 तबतलयन से

India has expressed its concerns many a times

regarding restrictions (on higher visa fees) on

visas for highly skilled professionals seeking to

take up employment in the U.S.

These are some issues between India and the

U.S. that has destabilized the bilateral balance

to a certain extent.

यू.एस. में रोजगार लेने के इचु्छक अत्यतिक कुशल

पेशेवरो ं के तलए वीजा पर (उच्च वीजा शुल्क पर) भारि

ने कई बार अपनी तचंिाओं को व्यक्त तकया है।

ये भारि और अमेररका के बीच कुछ मुदे् हैं तजन्ोनें

कुछ हद िक तिपिीय संिुलन को अस्थथर तकया है।

Chronology of U.S.-India trade disputes:Higher Tariffs:

In March 2018, the U.S. administration imposed national

security tariffs of 25% on $761-million worth of steel and

tariffs of 10% on $382-million of aluminium imported from

India.

India has contested the tariff hike at the World Trade

Organization.

यू.एस.-भारि व्यापार तववादो ं का कालक्रम:

उच्च शुल्क:

माचच 2018 में, अमेररकी प्रशासन ने 761 तमतलयन डॉलर के स्टील

पर 25% की राष्ट्र ीय सुरिा टै्ररफ और भारि से आयाि होने वाले

382 तमतलयन डॉलर के एलू्यमीतनयम पर 10% टै्ररफ लगाया।

भारि ने तवश्व व्यापार संगठन में टै्ररफ वृस्ि का मुकाबला तकया

है।

Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures (ASCM):

The U.S. has recently changed the status

of India, among other countries, to a

“developed” country, to reduce trade

concessions that it could receive from

the U.S. under the ASCM framework of

the WTO.

सस्िडी और काउंट्रवेस्सं्टग उपायो ं(ASCM) पर

समझौिा:

अमेररका ने हाल ही में, व्यापार की ररयायिो ं को कम

करने के तलए अन्य देशों के बीच भारि की स्थथति को एक

"तवकतसि" देश में बदल तदया है, जो तक तवश्व व्यापार

संगठन के ASCM ढांचे के िहि अमेररका से प्राप्त कर

सकिा है।

Trade deal:

While there some signs that a “limited trade deal”

might be finalized during trump’s visit There is the

possibility of a mini trade deal or a smaller trade

package announcement.

This might include agreements in the energy

sector. India might consider increasing its LNG

imports from the U.S.

व्यापार सौदा:

जबतक कुछ संकेि हैं तक ट्र म्प की यात्रा के दौरान "सीतमि

व्यापार सौदे" को अंतिम रूप तदया जा सकिा है, एक तमनी

व्यापार सौदे या छोटे् व्यापार पैकेज की घोर्षणा की संभावना

है।

इसमें ऊजाच िेत्र में समझौिे शातमल हो सकिे हैं। भारि यू.एस.

से अपना एलएनजी आयाि बढाने पर तवचार कर सकिा है।

Defence and strategic Cooperation:

Unlike the trade co-operation where there are a number

of disputes and differences between the two countries.

In spite of that the defence cooperation is more realistic

given the mutual interests and needs.

There is much possibility of announcement of the deal

for 24 Lockheed Martin-built MH-60R Seahawk Multi-Role

Helicopters for the Indian Navy.

रिा और सामररक सहयोग:

व्यापार सहयोग के तवपरीि, जहां दोनो ं देशो ं के बीच कई तववाद और

मिभेद हैं। इसके बावजूद तक आपसी तहिो ं और जरूरिो ं को देखिे

हुए रिा सहयोग अतिक यथाथचवादी है।

भारिीय नौसेना के तलए 24 लॉकहीड मातट्चन-तनतमचि एमएच -60 आर

सीहॉक मल्टी-रोल हेलीकॉप्टर के तलए सौदे की घोर्षणा की बहुि

संभावना है।

India and the U.S. are possibly, in negotiations regarding

India’s potential purchase of drones, additional P-8I long-

range, multi-mission maritime patrol aircraft and also the

Raytheon intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and

reconnaissance (ISTAR) aircraft.

There is a high probability of the American withdrawal leading

to the possible revival of the Taliban’s influence in

Afghanistan. This will help Pakistan-based terror elements or

the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) gain a deeper strategic

depth. This could compromise Indian interests considerably.

भारि और अमेररका संभविः, भारि िारा डर ोन की संभातवि खरीद,

अतिररक्त P-8I लंबी दूरी, बहु-तमशन समुद्री गश्ती तवमान और रेतथयॉन

खुतफया, तनगरानी, लक्ष्य अतिग्रहण और ट्ोही (ISTAR) तवमान के संबंि में

बािचीि कर रहे हैं।

अफगातनस्तान में िातलबान के प्रभाव के संभातवि पुनरुिार के तलए

अमेररकी वापसी की एक उच्च संभावना है। इससे पातकस्तान स्थथि

आिंकी ित्ो ं या इंट्र-सतवचसेज इंटे्तलजेंस (आईएसआई) को रणनीतिक

गहराई हातसल करने में मदद तमलेगी। इससे भारिीय तहिो ं में काफी

समझौिा हो सकिा है।
