• The HRC has sponsored events over the years, including the an-nual observance of Martin Lu-ther King Jr. Day and the Annual International Day of Peace.
• HRC has also organized other in-formational events such as: do-mestic awareness programs, cul-tural & musical events and par-ticipating in the annual National Night Out. These events were organized in partnership with lo-cal community organizations and businesses.
• Appointed by the Mayor, the HRC consists of twelve commu-nity members, including one student member.

One of the HCR’s annual event is
the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Cel-
ebration Day.
The guest speakers highlight the
inspiring words and timeless val-
ues of Dr. King.
Every year MLK Day is observed on King’s holiday in January.
