Main Flow

Umobile is a design investigation focusing on mobile applications and added-value location-based services for the tourism Industry. The Workshop aims at analyzing the state of the art of locative media and mobile software to identify practices, usage patterns and emerging opportunities to inform the design of mobile services.

Umobile will focus on investigating and creating concepts and scenarios for LOCATION BASED MOBILE APPLICATIONS in the following three areas of intervention: LEISURE | GAMING | KNOWLEDGE

LEISURE: Engaging visitors of public events, such as festivals, fairs and exhibitions in activities that enrich their experience of the hosting city and of the event itself, by involving them in happenings and social activities, facilitating the customization of their visit

See?Si!

See?Sì! is a platform that enables creating on-the-go photo libraries, collecting and geo-tagging pictures. The system supports thematic pictures galleries, which can be populated by crowdsourcing the collection of the entries directly to the event participants. See?Sì! is the ideal support for promoting and managing specific photographic contests.

Magnet City

Magnet City" is a mobile web application enabling location-based, real-time events schedule management. It allows to schedule all features in an event creating a customized daily programme with time and location information of chosen appointments. According to users' current location, "Magnet City" will send notifications with the information concerning the time needed to reach and attend the appointments planned.

Time Capsule

Time Capsule is an application for creating ad-hoc located multimedia content repositories. Each content of the capsules will be tagged with time and location. Time Capsules wraps up the content allowing to arrange, comment and browse the information collected. To access the contents, people will be required to unlock the capsules once they are detected in the capsules vicinity. Specific Capsules can be set by event promoters to build user-generated event mementos.

GAMING: Envisioning the creation of a compelling and seamless experience that provides the opportunity to use the public space for playful activities based on social participation and communication.

Running The Blocks

Running the blocks is a subject-based, locative gaming application. By choosing the subject of interest in the city, the user, either individually or within a team has to complete location based tasks. The tasks are designed to encourage the user to thoroughly investigate the area and hunt down the answers to the questions. The ‘RTB’ application allows the user to unlock information about a subject or event that may otherwise not be obvious or available.

Potpourri

Potpourri is a mobile application for sharing knowledge and communicating within a group of people. It can be imagined as a collaborative virtual space accessed by a closed set of people. The display of information varies according to the channel thematic and can be categorized by activity, time, topic or people involved. Through a simple one-action step users can send notifications and share rich media .

VengoNONVengo is a location-based application for receiving real-time information about ongoing cultural activities or other initiatives happening in the user's whereabouts. The application detects the user's location and, by matching it with other subject related filters, offers a range of choices for entertainment and cultural happenings in the area.VengoNONVengo also supports the user in setting reminders for events of their interest.

Music IT

Music IT is an application delivering immersive tourist experience through music and sounds. The application detects the users' position and it to suggest a number of possible itineraries leading the tourist in an aural journey to discover places and prominent landmarks of the town. Music IT triggers visitors curiosity suggesting unconventional points of view to discover a city past history and traditions through their most characteristic sounds.
