Sojourners News Sojourners  will  hold  there  regular  monthly  meeting  on  Wednesday, November 2nd at 11:30am in the FH. Please bring a sack lunch, desserts and tea will be furnished.  

The  Sojourners  will  go  for  lunch  at  The Gray House in Iva on Wednesday,  November 9th.  The  bus  will  leave  the  Church  at  11:00am.  Please  see  Jane  Neil  to  make  your reservation.  Their  special  that  day  is Turkey  and Dressing.  Sign up  at  our  luncheon meeting on Nov 2nd or call Jane Neil at 706‐376‐2442.  We  are  doing  a  Christmas  project  for  The  United  Methodist  Children's  Home  in Decatur, GA. To make it easier for you to shop, The Home's Christmas Wish List will be handed  out  at  our  luncheon/meeting  on  Wednesday,  Nov.  2nd.  Bring  gifts  UNWRAPPED before, but no later than our Annual Christmas Luncheon on Wed, Dec. 7th.  

HFUMC Chancel Choir Christmas Cantata The annual Christmas Cantata will be on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 7:00pm. Every year the choir does such a wonderful job, we are looking forward to the Cantata this year titled, “Sing Gloria.” The Children’s Musical will be Wednesday, December 14th at 6:00pm. They will be performing “The Great Christmas Giveaway.”

                    CANCER SUPPORT GROUP  Has  your  life  been  touched  by  cancer?    Perhaps  yourself,  a  family member,  co‐worker  or  friend?    Every  person’s  experience  with  this dreaded disease is different but we all hold a common thread… We ALL need  love and support.   Please  join our group on  the 2nd Thursday of 

each  month  at  7:00p.m.  in  the  Church  library.  (Next  meeting  is  Nov.  10th)  This support group is open to everyone in the community and ALL are welcome to attend. Joanne and  Jim DeWeerth  are  facilitating    the group.  If  you have  any questions you may email them at  [email protected] or call the church office at 706‐376‐3164.

Family Night Suppers November Menus & Advent Study Series

Reservations for supper should be turned in on the yellow FNS card on Sundays or call the Church office by Noon on the Monday preceding FNS. Supper starts at 5:30pm. The program starts at 6pm.

November 2nd—Joel Rosenburg Simulcast DVD

Our congregation joined the community in watching the simulcast on 9/11. It was very good, so we would like to share it again. Joel Rosenburg is an Old Testament Theological scholar. He shares his insight into the current political situations in the Middle East and how it relates to Biblical prophesies.

November 16th will begin our Advent Study Series

The Advent Series will be very different this year. It is based on the devotion booklet, “Java With John.” Through this series, John will open our eyes and call us from our comfort zones and into the truth that the Savior brings. Dr. Allen Stewart will have a unique approach to this series that you will enjoy and will give you a deeper meaning to your Christmas experience this year. The series will begin on Wednesday, November 16th. Dr. Stewart will continue the series each Sunday of Advent and each Wednesday night of Advent. Devotion booklets will be available for purchase on November 6th for $2.00 each.

   We would like to welcome into our Christian Fellowship:   

• Pam Carter & her daughter, Sandi Carter, who come to us by pro‐fession of faith. They live at 25 Jefferson Ave. Hartwell.

f Stone Mountain Wesley Walk October 22nd We returned to Stone Mountain for the Wesley Walk Saturday, October 22, 2011 with five walkers, counting Dale & Cindie David’s dog, “Poppy”. (The four “people” walkers were the Davids, Jim Kesler, and me.) Our congregation raised $500 for this year’s Walk, and Jim Kesler was the walker who raised the most

money ($200) thanks to the donations from him and his John Holland Sunday School Class. Thanks also to the United Methodist Men for a donation of $150.00, and to all the individual donors who supported us this year. Jim Kesler finished the entire Walk, walking in memory of his wife, Sue who coordinated the Wesley Walk with Jim during the late 1980’s through 1991. In addition, many thanks to Dale and Cindie David for (Dale) driving Cindie’s car to Stone Mountain and getting us back to Hartwell safely. Charles Pace, Wesley Walk Coordinator
