Despite the fact that his career was curtailed in 1963 by a fatal

heart attack when he was only 45, Elmore James was an

extremely influential figure in the development of blues guitar,

both but virtue of his highly distinctive sound, which he

consciously developed by building his own combination of a

modified hollow-bodied guitar and custom pick-ups, but also hishit with a version of Robert Johnson's "Dust My Broom", which

has become one of the most ubiquitously performed and

recorded tunes in blues.

This 52-track 2-CD collection comprises the A and B sides of

every single he released from his debut on the small Trumpet

label with the aforementioned classic in 1951 through to a few

months before his death, during which time he recorded for the

Meteor, Flair, Modern, Chief, Fire and Chess labels. A host of

high profile guitarists have readily cited Elmore James as an

influence and performed his material over the years, despite his

relatively modest body of work, including Jimi Hendrix, Brian

Jones, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and GeorgeThorogood. This collection is an ideal introduction to his work.

Fats Domino was one of the most important figures in the

development and popularisation of rock 'n' roll, representing as

he did the bridging of the previously yawning gap between the

black R&B market and the white mainstream commercial pop

scene during the middle years of the 1950s. His career began

long before the well-documented rock 'n' roll explosion of those

years, but he maintained an extraordinary longevity in the charts,to the extent that this 3-CD collection, comprising 79 tracks,

Classic album from 1970 by the British progressive

bluesrock band Freedom back on vinyl

The British band FREEDOM founded in 1967, when after the

huge success of Procol Harum's international hit "A Whiter

Shade Of Pale" two musicians, namely drummer Bobby Harrison

and guitarist Ray Royer, left the band and just founded

FREEDOM. They wanted to play harder progressive blues rock,as it was en vogue then. After the soundtrack album "Black &

White" to the eponymous film by Tinto Brass as well as two

highly sought-after singles released only in Germany, 1970

appeared the first regular album of the band "Freedom at Last".

The album was created in the studio Orange in London with

Bobby Harrison (drums), guitarist Roger Saunders and bassist

Walter Monagham. Here comes the first release of this album on

vinyl since 45 years. After two more albums that appeared on the

legendary Vertigo label in 1972 still was concluded with the

band. This album, which now appears on 180 gram heavy vinyl,

offers 12 psychedelic tinged and heavy blues-rock songs in the

for that time typical performing style that became a real British

quality concept and gained by bands such as Led Zeppelin,

Spooky Tooth or Cream worldwide reputation , Til today.

The Swedish symphonic rockband Tribute was founded 1982by the two musicians/composers Gideon Andersson and Jose(formerly Christer) Rhedin. The band created four albums -"New Views", "Breaking Barriers", "Live" and "Terra Incognita

"New Views" was the first album and was the one that gave thgroup their breakthrough in Germany and Sweden in the middof the nineteen eighties. Tribute toured continuously between1983 and 1986, and established a large following among thesymphonic/progressive rock lovers. Tribute's music is mostlyinstrumental. It is focused on rhythm, intricate riffs andmelodies. In the orchestration there is plenty of classicalpercussion, such as tubular bells, vibraphone, marimba andtimpani. There is also a strong impact from the keyboardsection mastered by Josef Rhedin. Another significant aspectTribute is that all musicians were multi-instrumentalists, whichmade a significant impression on their audience. In 1985Tribute was joined by french progressive rock drummer PierreMoerlen (Gong, Mike Oldfield, PhilLynott) who played almost200 concerts with the band. Pierre Moerlen played drums on

two albums, Breaking Barriers and Live. Tribute had greatsuccess and was very well known in Sweden.

We managed to structure it ina way so you can hear the evil, darkness, air and power. Speedwas not our focus. While complicated parts are still there, it is avery listenable record by all means. The album is less intensethan previous. You can find more slow to mid tempos. Damianand Maro did a few vocal parts. We also invited several guests,among them was Dave Suzuki, who did one solo. We have twowomen's voices and a friend of ours recorded a flamenco guitarpart. A few songs and interludes feature choir parts (WroclawPhilharmonic Orchestra) - which is already like the icing on thecake. On top of that - my vocals."
