Insulation blankets are available to the general public forexternal use on gas water heaters but are not necessarywith these products. The purpose of an insulation blanket isto reduce the standby heat loss encountered with storagetankheaters.Thewaterheaterscoveredbythismanualmeetor exceed the Energy Policy Act standards with respect toinsulation and standby heat loss requirements, making aninsulationblanketunnecessary.
Should you choose to apply an insulation blanket to thisheater, youshouldfollowtheseinstructions.SeetheFeaturesand Components section of this manual for identificationof components mentioned below. Failure to follow theseinstructions can restrict the air flow required for propercombustion, potentially resulting in fire, asphyxiation, seriouspersonalinjuryordeath.

This unit is equipped with a push button pilot ignitor,
on the gas control.
Continue to hold the gas control knob down for about one (1) minute after the pilot is lit. Release the gascontrol knob and it will pop back up. Pilot shouldremain lit. If it goes out , repeat step (3) through (9).It may take several minutes for air to clear the linesbefore the pilot will light. If knob does not pop up when released, stop andimmediately call your service technician or gassupplier. If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries, turn the gas control knob clockwise to 'OFF' andcall your service technician or gas supplier.SEE FIGURE 'A'
DANGER: Hotter water increases the riskof scald injury. Consult the instructionmanual before changing temperature.
