Even the most serious fitness and sportstrainers would be unlikely to say that theydon’t like the way they look and feel as aresult of all the training and hard work theyput in. However, fitness models deliberately
set out to look good, and train for that goal andspecifically for competitions. The look they achieve is verymuch an ultra-FIT one, lean, athletic and toned.
This issue we take an in-depth look into what ittakes to become a fitness model. Our three-partfeature is written in the main by Audrey Kaipio, ourcover model, a fitness expert and top fitness model. The first part sets the scene and then explodes into agreat workout that’ll get you in fantastic model shape –see page 70. We then talk to two models at the top oftheir game, pro-fitness model from the USA, ObiObadike and the UK’s (via Greece) Eleni Plakitsi –page 102. The feature then moves on to discuss dietand nutrition – a crucial element of in particular thepre-competition phase of a fitness model’s preparation. And finally if you think you’ve got what it takes tobecome a fitness model you can enter our ultra-FITcover model search. There’s a host of great prizes onoffer for the winners – see page 108.
Elsewhere, as usual this issue is packed full ofworkouts and nutritional advice that will get you in greatshape, whether you want to model it or not! OurMarathon Hero plan is closing in on that 26.2 mile raceand we take you up to the half marathon distance –see page 58. Meanwhile those who get their fitnesskicks through three sports can follow our ultra-FIT Tri
Challenge triathlon training programme – see page 90.The ‘Tri Challenge’ is our very own triathlon that takesplace in Windsor on the 23rd May. We’ve two otherworkouts as well – so you’ll not have any excuses fornot knowing what training to do. Our Build a Great
Body plan moves onto a new programme. It’s designedto get you into great shape by the time the sun shines(hopefully!) in the springtime – see page 52. And onpage 62 our Fitness Express, Pull-Up workout sets agreat challenge for any of you wanting to master this‘real’ and very tough exercise. Speaking of challenges,we’re posting twice weekly workouts on our website(www.ultra-FITmagazine.co.uk). These ‘WOW’s’(aka workouts of the week) will keep you motivated to train and get your body in great shape.
