Page | 1 Situation Update WFP’s latest food security assessment (January 2015) confirmed that the financial situation of the majority of population in non-government controlled area and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in government controlled area remains difficult. Approximately 29.5 percent of households in non-governmental controlled areas do not have enough money for basic needs, 50 percent have sufficient funds to purchase food, and only 19 percent have enough to eat but have depleted their savings. Food accounts for the main share of household expenditure, 52 percent in government controlled area and 80 percent in non-government controlled area. Food price index continues to grow after a seasonal decrease during the summer and yearly food inflation reached 40.1 percent. WFP Response Food Assistance WFP Emergency operation in Ukraine has been extended until end of June 2016. WFP continues to support the most vulnerable categories of people living in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, both government and non-controlled areas, providing food parcels, e- vouchers or cash transfers. Since access was re-permitted to non-government controlled area in late October 2015, WFP has been able to increase distributions, reaching more vulnerable people affected by the conflict. Ukraine EMOP Budget Revision #3 (BR3) extends the current EMOP to the end of June 2016 and increase the budget to USD 35.9 million.
