UK-V Meeting Paul John Dervan
New Irradiation Lab
• New lab on the ground floor of B.186 • New lab is up and running• All module tests can be carried out there:
Electrical Stand Temperature controlled freezer (to be done) Nitrogen Supply
This improves safety, by irradiated modules all being in the same, known place
UK-V Meeting Paul John Dervan
New Beam Target• New Rotary target robot• Just up-stream of cool box• Scintillators and films in 5 positions• Monitor the beam position by new Camera mounted on the ceiling of T7 (next slide)• No more doubts about beam position! (Not that there ever was!)• Also, prototype beam profile monitor in shuttle. Will be extended to SCT box after tests
UK-V Meeting Paul John Dervan
New Camera
• New camera in the area • Can be remotely moved on 3 axis• So beam can be seen on the scintillator on the front of the box and on the rotary target

UK-V Meeting Paul John Dervan
P1A (19th May – 6th June)
Barrel 20220040200041 (from LBNL) Barrel 20220380200006 (from SCAND)
High gain spread chip Oscillates
UK-V Meeting Paul John Dervan
Fluence for P1A
Easy run. No major problems with the beam. 2 spills perSuper-cycle day/night. 20GeV beam due to broken transformer in the septum that extracts beam into the East Hall.
UK-V Meeting Paul John Dervan
Module Currents for P1A
Module B0041 tripped at about ½ fluence. Was unable to re-power it so it stayed un-powered but biased for the rest of the run.

Barrel 20220040200041 had a high gain spread chip (S2), before irradiation, 8.89
After Irradiation this had reduced to 1.50.
But only one module so far!
Another module with a highgain spread chip is being irradiated in P1B-P1C (now).
Both these modules will go into the next test-beam

Fluence for P1B-P1C
Not reached fluence yet. But lots of problems with the PS and accelerator complex. Only one spill for most of the run, until the
end where we got 2 to get us to target fluence.
UK-V Meeting Paul John Dervan
Module Currents for P1B-P1C
Currents look good. No problems with the modules in this run (so far).

Summary
• Annual service of T7 was done in January• New rotary target station installed and working• New Camera is installed and working well • New lab is ready• The high gain spread on chips seems to go away with irradiation. But only seen one module!• Oscillating modules will be studied as soon as possible• Third Irradiation of 2003 starts on 25th July.
