Subiect: Grouping Guidelines for Certification of Mild Steel WireRod for General Engineering Purposes as per IS 7887:1992.

Clause 6 and Table 1 of IS 7887:1992 specifies 15 different grades of MildSteel Wire Rods for general purposes. In order to follow a Uniform Policyfor the purpose of grant of licence / inclusion of additional varieties inthe existing licence, for drawl of samples for independent testing as perIS 7887:1992, all the grades have been grouped under three groups asshown below:

It is proposed to adopt the following guidelines:

1. One sample each from lowest cmd highest range of limits of Carbonfrom each group shall be drawn for independent testing forcovering all grades for considering grant of licence/inclusion.

2. While drawing sample(s) for independent testing care shall be takento get all declarations as per Notes under Table 1 of IS 7887:1992such as requirements of silicon killed, aluminium killed, aluminiumsilicon killed, addition of copper & micro alloy elements if any andother values of sulphur & phosphorous as agreed betweenmanufacturer and purchaser..

3. It shall however be ensured that firm has necessary manufacturingand testing facilities for the entire grades proposed to be coveredunder scope of BISCertifiC<ltio1.

During the operation of 1icence, BO shall ensure that all grades covered int~e licence are drawn for independc nt testing on rotation over acriod oftIme. ~ ~]
