PENANG NATIONAL PARK

A paradise with a diverse collection of flora and fauna

This park covers an area of 1213 hectares and consists of pristine coastal-forested area.

* Visitors need to pay a fee to visit this park but must register at the entrance to the park for security

reasons. The hours are from 7.30 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. daily.

* There are two ways for you to get to the park. If you are coming from the city, drive towards Batu

Ferringhi and along the direction of Teluk Bahang. You will see signage leading you to this park.

* If you are taking public transport, the Rapid Penang U101 and U501 buses will get you there.

A key attraction at the park is the

historical MUKA HEAD LIGHTHOUSE

built in 1883. The trail leading up to the

lighthouse is quite challenging but that is

nothing compared to the panoramic view

of the surrounding islands that you will

get to witness at the lighthouse peak.

If you love JUNGLE TREKKING, you

have a choice of doing it at Pantai

Keruchut, Monkey Beach and Teluk

Tukun. The time taken to finish trekking

the natural trail varies from 30 minutes to

2 hours.

The park is a haven for FISHING

enthusiasts. Boats can be rented from the

tour operator within the compound of the

park. Besides that, the park hosts a round

trip boat excursion for its visitors. The

best thing is, the excursion includes stops

at the beaches for a swim.

Hi Shaheera,

Thank you so much for sharing some tips on digital cameras and photography. I really

appreciate your help. Now I have a photograph of my pride and joy, Della, on my home desktop as a

screen saver. I even showed it to Della and guess what she did? She put her paw on the screen and

tried to catch the mouse that she saw!

I have just completed my Science project on our universe this morning so now I have some time

to myself. You know how I always complain about how hot the afternoons are but now I have a

better understanding of it. Well, I found out that the Sun began to shine 4 500 million years ago.

Experts believe it will continue to produce heat for the next 6 000 million years. Is it true that it is a

very long time but what will happen to life on Earth if the Sun finally stops shining? I am sure the

green plants will die. What about your school Science project? What topic have you chosen?

Anyway, do you remember Elfie, my neighbour? We certainly had a wonderful time when you

came here during the last school holidays. Well, his father has been promoted and transfered to

Kelantan. Elfie and his family will leave at the end of the month. I must admit that I feel unhappy

about this.
