2. Uganda flag Ugandas flag was adopted on October 9, 1962, the date that Uganda became independent from the United Kingdom. The three colors are representative of African peoples (black), Africa's sunshine (yellow), and African brotherhood (red being the color of blood, through which all Africans are connected). 3. Geography Land Uganda is in the Eastern part of Africa. It is west of Kenya, south of South Sudan, and east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
